Play in 4k? Better Graphics?

Postby mrjea99 on Thu Jan 26, 2023 11:41 am

Hey everyone

I was wondering if there is a way to play NBA Live 2005 PC with better graphics (aside from just changing the detail settings in-game).

I see people on youtube with 4k footage with the PC version and I was wondering how to do this.

Also if anyone has suggestions for the best software to screen record. thanks

Using Hex Work and other tools to modify the game launcher, 4K resolution and 16:9 screen ratio can be achieved, the effect is shown as follows:

What's the resolution of your PC? Is it also 3840*2160? Please tell me to calculate the value that needs to be changed. :D

My monitor is 1920 x 1080 (I plan on getting a 2560 x 1440 monitor soon).

Method:
1. Use a hexadecimal editor such as Hex Work to open nbalive2005.exe;

2. Modify the resolution: Use the "Replace" function and select "Hex Values" as the type;
If you use 1920*1080 resolution: search 80020000E001 and replace it with 800700003804
If you use 2560*1440 resolution: search 80020000E001 and replace it with 000A0000A005
If you use 3840*2160 resolution: search 80020000E001 and replace it with 000F00007008
(Search will have two results, both of which need to be replaced)

3. Modify the widescreen(16:9): Use the "Replace" function and select "Hex Values" as the type;
Search 68ABAAAA3F68000070428D9424900000
replace it with 68398EE33F68000070428D9424900000

4. Save the modification,use the modified nbalive2005.exe to enter the game and select 640*480*32 to take effect.

5.enjoy :D !

There is a minor problem though which is players are clipping at left and right ends, you also need to fix Field of View.

It also seems like you have a lot of mods, can you share them? such as
2X Crowd
Instant Replay Camera?
Improved stadiums
Bodies etc

:D

Edit: Oh so after some research it seems like you did some work. If there is any help needed, I can help. I work on some automatization stuff on my own.
Back in my days, people with more posts had priority. Unfortunately I got this wrong, my post number is inflated a bit. At least %60 of my replies are non-sense, I had bad English + lack of comprehension back then. Colorful username is from my NBA modding days. Sorry everyone.

Thanks! I did that and it worked.

Now is there a way to remove the cap on the framerate to get NBA Live 2005 to run smoother?

Is there a way to make it 60 FPS?

It feels very choppy.

Thank you for your reply. I have also noticed this problem, and I will try my best to fix it!

2X crowd patch needs to match the stadium I made to prevent the game from popping up. Currently 22 regular season teams have been completed. When I finish 30 teams, I will release the patch together for testing.

The replay camera was made extra for me to make the stadium patch, it allowed me to view the whole stadium from higher up, I also made this patch for LIVE 06, click the link below to download it:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/1ievfxsd ... a.zip/file

As for body proportion, I haven't studied it very deeply. LIVE05 originally only had 9 body proportion files.
But some of them are actually the same. I used the Hex to splice the bodies together to give me more options when making the roster.

I'm looking forward to your project for NBA Live 06. (Y) (Y) (Y)
I'm also working on my project for LIVE 05 by myself.
Let's work and prgress together!

If your LIVE05 doesn't get to 60 FPS in high resolution, it's not because of the limitations of the game program,maybe the computer hardware isn't strong enough :? .
If you're using a higher-resolution monitor, it's recommended that you prepare a better graphics card.

It gets way past 60fps but it doesn't look as smooth like 60 should be. Sometimes if I restart the game, it will feel buttery smooth, but then the next game it will stutter.

Sometimes if I change my monitor refresh rate from 75hz to 60hz, then it will be smooth. But then if I restart the game at 60hz, it will be choppy again, so I have to change it from 60hz back to 75hz, then it will be smooth again. Its weird.

So idk if it has something to do with the monitor and fps not matching up. (also turning on V-sync doesn't help me). I've tried almost every combination of settings.

maybe its time to get new hardware :P (currently have gtx 1050)
