I should have went for a Kt333 chipset when i could have. At the time i got my system the kt333 chipset was brand new and performance was worse/equal to the kt266a. In hindsight I made a mistake.
The only dividers i have are FSB:AGP:PCI = 4:2:1 so basically at 143 fsb my agp is at 71.5 and pci is 35.75. AGP is way too far out of spec for ati cards
I got an early stepping. Forgot exactly waht it was, but i looked it up with cpuid a long time ago and that's what i remember.
I left my voltage at stock. My thing puts out enough heat the way it is, with temps around 56 on avg. OUch.
And yeah, I've read about unlocking the multipliers on the palominos..it's hell isn't it? compared to the bartons and thoroughbreds at least.
Yeah I want to pick up an nforce2 mb and a barton 2500+ but damn, I really don't want to spend the money. In canada it's: 130 for the chip + 200 for the mb + 120 for 512 megs PC3200 + 130 for a new antec case (i want a new case). Don't want to drop the $640 (tax incl) in the end for it especially since my computer is only a lil over a year old and also since the Athlon 64 was just released
The 9800XT has that Overdrive thing. I'm not too sure about that, and how reliable it is. I prefer traditional o/c's. You should try to find a cheap Radeon 9800non-pro or wait for the new Radeon 9600XTs. Suppozedly the 9600XT is billed as the first mainstream card to surpass the performance of the R9700pro. THAT i have to see to believe.
Regardless, I hope Live 2004 will have better performance than 2003 on my system. I've been able to handle almost all the games out now, but from what i've heard, I'm pretty sure EA has screwed the pc version again
