Who do you think?

Discussion about NBA Live 2004.

It has to be Yao Ming, think about it, who had the most impact this year??? Yao Ming did. Besides like other people in this thread said, more people from China will buy the game if Yao Ming is on the front cover, there are 1.3 billion people in China.

No one's mentioned Kenyon Martin yet - a rising star who plays for the best team in the East, he might be a suitable candidate. Still, if nothing else, EA probably won't put a Net on the cover two years in a row. Oh well, the speculation continues...

Besides of previously mentioned, it would be one of these players:

Ray Allen (Y)
Allan Houston (Y)
Reggie Miller
Karl Malone
John Stockton (Y)
Latrell Sprewell
:?: Grant Hill (but... his injury :( )
Rasheed Wallace

They probably wouldn't put John Stockton on the cover, since he won't be back next season.

Ray Allen is on NBA shoot around 2003's cover, and the rest of them are too old. Rasheed Wallace wasn't very hot this season. It's gonna be Yao Ming (Y) or Amare.

They are not just too old. They are NBA professionals - those players are NBA-historic and all of them really worth "representing" NBA on the cover of the game. But Yao and Amare are only rookies.

Of course, it wouldn't be a player, who will retire next year (I didn't know about Stockton retire)

Why did you pick them, Reggie Miller was like a bench player, Spree is like 17 ppg, Allan Houston just knows how to shoot, and he's 33 yrs old. EA will pick someone who had the most impact and most popularity over the last year, in that case, it will be Yao Ming. if either Allan Houston, Reggie Miller, Spree or Grant Hill on that cover, I will buy you a pizza, how's that?

Building on that idea, how about a main cover player, with a collage of other NBA players and legends behind him?

Reggie Miller was like a bench player

LOL

" - Most prolific 3-pt shooter in the history of the NBA
- Named to the All-NBA Third Team in 1997-98 for the third time, with 1994-95 and 1995-96
- A member of the gold medal-winning U.S. Olmpic Basketball Team at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta
- The leading scorer (17.1 ppg) and a tri-captain on the U.S. Basketball Team at the World Championship of Basketball in Toronto
- Participated in the 2000 NBA All-Star Game (5th time)
- Started all 2000 NBA Finals games against the L.A. Lakers averaging 24.3 ppg"

Allan Houston just knows how to shoot

Yao doesn't even know that! (PPG 13.5)

and he's 33 yrs old

J.Kidd is 30 yrs old. He's not so much younger.

I will buy you a pizza

I take you at your word

And finally, I didn't say those guys are the best (but some of them could be on the cover).
The best pretenders on the cover was mentioned above scores of times (T-Mac, Pierce etc.)

Peace :)

Why would EA pick someone who is used to be good??????? If they were on Live's cover 6 years ago, then fine. but, come on, man, it's almost 2004 now. Like what I said, if one of those 30+ yrs old guys on that cover, I will buy you a pizza.

Wow, great idea! :)

But else i'd like somebody from the champ team to be on the cover (Tim Duncan or Tony Parker if the Spurs win for example).

If they were going to put a Spur on the cover, no doubt they'd want to put Duncan. However, he was on the cover of Live 2000. While there's no rule against putting the same player on the cover with every instalment, I think it's something that EA tries to avoid. But who knows, they might abandon that idea and give someone their second cover.

You've entered your words inside my quotes. :)

Generally, it's not so important who will be on the cover. I'd like the game to be worth playing it!!!

I like the idea of Jefferson of Marion...Marion Preferably. He makes the highlight reel regularly and is a star on a rising team
