Andreas Dahl: I don't know how much you watch, or play basketball, but in the NBA very RARELY can a defender stop his man from just running by him unless that defender is much quicker than the offensive player. Defense is extremely hard because you have to guess what the man with the ball is doing, have that guess be right, then physically do something about it. So, for someone like nash or finley to get past his man isn't all that far-fetched.... but like someone else pointed out, the help defense was there. The shots were contested, and in most cases the shots weren't great, and they didn't go in. This is how basketball works. In games like the 2K series, where you try to run past your defender, but you are automatically stopped by their force field is ridiculous. In the real NBA, if you try to keep jumping in front of the ballhandler to stop him, 99 out of 100 cases you will get called for blocking.... If there was no help defense, like in past versions, it would completely ruin the game... but no longer are there wide open lanes to the hoop.....
This is one of the biggest hurdles to making an NBA game "realistic.'' This 10-man motion cap thing seems like it will be huge because I've never seen help defense like this. Hopefully this will translate into players now having to actually use ball movement to get good shots and realistic amounts of fouls (on both sides of the ball). I get more pumped everyday....
