Discussion about NBA Live 2004.

Promises,Promises

Postby jdevolve on Sun May 11, 2003 2:10 am

I'm not going to trust anything EA says about live until it actually comes out. They always promise a bigger and better game, but it is always certain things they don't tell. One year it'll be the insane amount of scoring, and blocked shots, the next year it'll the rebounding that sux, it always something with Live that totally turns me off. I refuse to get suckered in this year so I think this will be a rent first. :x [/b]

I just really hope that franchise/dynasty is really improved a lot. (Y) That's what i like best about NBA Live. At the moment, i think i stand "un-impressed" (does that mean i'm just "pressed" then? Hahaha) I hope they're still making LOTS of changes to it.

I like the skintones too.

I'm guessing they'll still be doing work on the cyberfaces because the TMac that's there looks like Kerry Kittles.

requirements

Postby agrimm on Sun May 11, 2003 5:56 am

i'm concerned about the requirements for the new game to run it in full graphics...

yeh, i hope they also do a better job at the programming of the game, so that it runs smoother than 2003.

I hope they keep the same shoe format as in Live 2003, that way we can easily patch up our player's with shoes that already have been made :D I'm looking forward to Live 2004 though but the player graphics don't seem to have been improved that much though. Check out the differences below.

Btw, I hope that the cover you posted of Yao and T-Mac isn't real because that picture looks kind of.. well.. you know.. gay.

Well their definitley authentic arenas with different models, look at this shot of staples center. 3 levels of luxury boxes, like the real thing.

For u 56 k'ers I'm just posting the links to the other ones. Your welcome.
Fisher and Gooden Fisher's too Dark, good look at jersey textures.
Tracy vs. Francis In this one you can see the retired numbers, although they look photoshoped in.

Even though it's still (relatively) early, I hope they change player models. They look stumpy. Maybe it's the huge shorts and big feet, but the models look cartoonish to me.

i don't think the player models r wht we will see in the real game... do u think they will have all the graphics done properly yet? they still look like psone graphics rite now... EA isn't gonna release shit like this (shit even compared to wht they usually release  )
but the cover Yao Ming looks realistic, but mcgrady looks like a sausage dog.....

I think the shorts are fine, but the feet should be a bit smaller IMO.

I'm waiting for 2004 as well, but I think EA forgot to optimize the code on 03 since it's pretty slow.
On EA:s page there weren't listed no "REVOLUTIONARY" new things, sounds bad, but I hope that NBA2k4 will put more competition on!

In my opinion, this is actually a good sign that rather than implementing a new feature, EA will work on what they already have, fixing up the problems we've complained about and improving the realism and gameplay.

They need to rework the code to optimize fps. No reason I shouldn't get 60 frames.

Actually, I believe that the player models are about the only thing in those pics that will be used for the finished game (also, the arena models). They're posting those pictures to show some of the new graphics for the game, and those models are most definitely new. Plus, the players are the main focus of the pictures, and are the first thing that anybody looking at them notices. So, while the textures might not be complete (i.e. see the pixilized net), I'm betting that they're done with those player models (at least the players that have been shown in these previews).

live 2003 uses frame limiting...thats why the fps isn't completely smooth. It's only partially because of unoptimised code.

This is to every one of you that have posted on this thread...

The fact that EA is not doing a new fancy feature this year is a good thing. That means they have time to concentrate on the game and fix all the problems and they have time to work on a User Interface for the PC.

The graphics, shoes, arenas and guys are all going to look great... That's always the EA way of doing things.

And relax boys... We'll be much smarter after E3 expo... It starts on wednesday and then we can hear some real facts on the game and how it seems to run.

You are jumping the gun when you don't see your wishes come true on a list of NEW features. I believe there are always features that are not so advertised that are in the game. There are tons of stuff that are tweaked every year to make the game better and they are not all on a list that is released for NEW features...

Just stop panicking... And complaining already. I want to see the game before judging it. I hope and dream it will be all good.

Metsis: You said it like it should be said!
People are really jumping the gun. EA will implement a whole lot of stuff, just like they did for live 2003, that will not be advertised

P.S. Metsis. Finland didn't rock that hard this year against Sweden.
