Sliders for Realistic Stats

Discussion about NBA Live 2004.

Postby TheBigEasy on Tue Dec 09, 2003 5:41 am

I have played another game with Andrews sliders (a bit tweaked if i remember correctly).

First time on superstar
10 minute quarters
NLSC roster from 3rd of december, with injuries.

I played NO @ Chicago. I had to go to overtime, but I won it and I think the stats are pretty realistic.

Code: Select all
Entire Game         New Orleans      Chicago

Points              113              106
Bench Scoring       39               25
Field Goals         46/104           47/105
Field Goal %        .442             .448
3 Point FG          7/25             2/11
3 Point %           .280             .182
Free Throws         14/22            10/12
Free Throw %        .636             .833
Rebounds            56               57
Off. Rebounds       5                3
Def. Rebounds       51               54
Blocks              3                7
Steals              3                2
Assists             28               23
Turnovers           7                12
Fouls               12               16

POG was Baron Davis with 37 points, 7 boards and 2 assists. David West had a good game, 12 pts, 12 boards, 3 assists. A little disturbing was the fact, that Jamaal Magloire had 8 Assists ... and missed a triple double, cause he had also 13 points and 11 boards. PJ Brown and David Wesley were pretty much non existent offensive wise, cause they had 2 pts and 6 pts respectively. Brown fouled out, late in regulation.

Cause I have won this and it seems not to be that hard on superstar, I guess I will cancel my Dynasty and start a new one with the new roster ...

Sorry by my bad english!!!!

PLEASE GIVE ME A REALISTIC SLIDES NOW!!!

THANKS!!!

I think ur biggest problem is you're not playing D... I posted a result of my game with andrews slider.. 12mins superstar... And i got realistic stats... u should practice ur defense.... that's my advise... andrews slider has nothing to do with u not gatting realistic stats.. its just that ur simply not playing defense...

Hey,

jepp i agree with you. But the point is fastbreak and transion def.
Sometime i loose the off. rebound and the cpu player stands under my basket....lol or he "fly" with lightspeed, to fast, to make a foul....(turbo incl.)

So most of the opponent points that i get are fastbreakpoints. I use Andrews sliders and play at allstar....

I think you can play realistic games with Nba Live 2004.
I can...

I find the best sliders settings, and my best "play-style".

I write to you, how can I play real matches:

1) You must change the slider settings. ( You find these settings at the end of my message!)

2) I play 12 minutes quarter on All- Star level. I always play with the 76ers. ( my favourite team :-))

3)

- a) After you loaded the game, go to the Main menu- settings- playbook, and set the opponent team's offensive strategy.
(These sets are at the end of my message !)

- b) Change your team's strategy to MAN TO MAN !!! (Not Half Court Man To Man, or Full Court, Just MAN TO MAN) It is very important, because if you use Man TO Man, the opponent team don't make so many fastbreak "shit".

- c) In the Defensive Matchups menu: change the pressure to HIGH for all players.(your team vs. the opp. team)

- d) Set your offensive strategy ( NOT IN THE "TEAM STRATEGY" MENU !!!) Just for Quick Plays:
Put 3 POINT, ISOLATION, PICK AND ROLL, POST UP etc.)

- d) And set your defensive strategy. Put Man To Man to the first place ! Use Zone, Half Court or Full Court Press, Double Team, etc.

4) LET'S PLAY.

You have to pay attention for many things ! The most important are:

1) THE DEFENSE IS THE KEY TO WIN DA GAME !!!

It's a very difficult thing to play good D .
You see that you CAN'T defend the CPU controlled player. Because, if you try it, he makes some dribbling
move, some freestyle move (especially the star players, like Kobe. T-Mac, Francis etc.)
and makes a layup, or a DUNK. And he leaves you in his dust :-)
My suggestion is: when the point guard (or other players) bring up the ball, change to your man, who stand the fartherst from the opponent player, who has the ball. Because at that time the CPU controls your player,
and the CPU controlled player from your team cling to the opponent teams player.( I hope you understand. Sorry for my bad English :-(((
And if the opp. guard pass the ball to the small forward (or the SG) , you must change away to your example: point guard, who defend the opp. point guard. Now the ball is in the opp. small forwards hands, if he starts to dribbling, your SF is controlled by the CPU, and he can play GOOD DEFENSE.
But if the point guard pass the Spalding to the Big Mans ( Center or Power Forward) you you must change to
your C or PF , and press the "take charge" button, then try to block the shot, steal the ball or grab the def reb.

I use this method and it works. If you make it good, the other team's players don't make so many points from the paint. They will take medium or long range shots. ( In my games the CPU attempts about 15-25 shots from mid range and 8- 10 from this are good).

But this works not always. Sometimes they attempt about 10-12 shots, and make "all points" from the paint. This is EA's SHIT.

2) USE THE SHOT CLOCK, USE YOUR 24 SECONDS

The most important is: You have 24 seconds to make a good "offense- action". DON't play your offense "WITHOUT THINKING".
You have enough time:-)
Do not "RUN 'n' DUNK", this cause a lot of turnover, missed layups, missed dunks.
And the other team makes 2 or 3 fastbreak, and your "8 points lead" is in danger :-)

a) Use your Quick Plays: Pick And Roll, Isolation, Post Up, 3 Point, etc.

b) Don't want make so many 3 pointers.

c) If the opp. team "is on fire" CALL TIMEOUT. It helps.

So try these things. I can play real games.
I send to you some gamestats. You can see, that there is "113-103" match, but there is "81- 73" too.
I lost many games, 'cause I was nervous, and try to run & make some quick points. But you can see I failed...

Stop doing full court man-to-man and stop double-teaming the point guard in the backcourt

Hey, I need help. Whenever the CPU takes the ball up court, they go for the three pointer about 70% of the time. I'm using Andrew's sliders, with a few tweaks, and I'm not sure if this is a common thing or something that just happens due to some setting on the sliders. Anyone else having this problem, and if you know what the problem is, how do I fix it?

You can only achieve a certain amount of realism with slider tweaks alone. If you run and gun and play very little defense, you're going to get high scores. Similarly, if you're a very skilled player, you might have to tweak the sliders further for a more satisfying challenge.

I just played my third or fourth game on Starter, 4x9 minutes. I lost all games so far but then I used Andrew's sliders and won with the Knicks vs. the Warriors with 104-92.

Strangely, Nick Van Exel scored 44 points and took 39 of the teams total of 84 shots...so when he was in the game, only he took shots, even ten in a row.

Yeah you are right. I use your sliders, I have only lowered the gamespeed to 42. I play now on superstar, 10 minute quarters. Still I get results over 100 pts. I havent been able to hold my opponent to under 100. So I guess I have to play a tighter D .. and maybe try to set the offense for opponent teams.

i just low down the offense time in 10 mins Q, then i can get a result under 100pts, i turn the game speed to 40. for a good example, New York VS Golden State: 75-66

Yeah, your right.i do run and gun at times but...picture this fo a sec.i run a fullcourt press at the opponent's inbound then double team whoever has the ball until they go into the half court. then run box1 or 3-2zone(depends on the opponents players' stats and which ever they are likely to do...a post-up or a three) the thing is, i lead the league in blocks, steals, assists and defensive rebounding.so its suffice to say it ain't my D who is the problem...i just want to get challenged further. i still am gonna try the newly posted sliders, thanx guys

balage76! Thanks for your sliders. They are pretty much perfect and i am getting some low scores but still get a few high ones to which is good also! The only thing I htink that is wrong with them is the free-throw and the fatigue sliders. I raised the free-throw one to 70 (because 20 is way too easy) and i lowered fatigue to 45 (they get really tired too quick when it is 52). Thanks also for the offensive strategies, they are great! :)

Hey Carmo ,

you wrote that you raised free-throw "one to 70 (because 20 is way too easy)"

Hmmm :?: so far i believe a slider at 100 is 100 % then a free-throw at 100 % every free-throw "is a hit".

The same one with fatige: Slider at 100 % means for me the players a super stong and all iornmans

or i´am wrong ??

It's "free throw difficulty" and "fatigue effect", so you are wrong.

macbit,

It is free-throw difficulty, so the higher the harder it is. And the fatigue effect, the lower the slider the less tired they get.

So yeah u r wrong but thats ok.

Hey,

following this threat i have a a point of principle question at the sliders:
Sliders settings for cpu and sliders for user.

Have user slider only affect of my gameplay with my team ? Because i can only control one player  the ohter 4 player of my team are controled from the cpu(i thing they ran the off and def scripts), so use this 4 "bod player" the settings of cpu or the setting user ?

The computerteam ,assuming that, are only useing the cpu Sliders correct ?

Apart from teh general slider settings.

Next question: You can switch between cpu shot control and user control shot. Have this any effect of the slider setting ?

what does it mean following sliders ?

Adjusted Shot
On-Ball Physical Defense
Poor Release
On-Ball Assist:

last question
I set the cpu slider for "double" at 0 but...anyway they double my low post player......Why ?

Sorry for the bad english.....

ok it was a close game when i posted my last message but for some reason i saw the court very well and has Jwill passes and found the open man or they left the lane wide open and with Gerald wallace i had about 18 easy pts. the grizzlies fell apart and i won i didnt expect to score 120pts this game i didnt care what i scored as long as i won and the cpu didnt score over 100pts. atleast there 3pts % isnt crazy is about right.

very good sliders Andrew :D

Might have to adjust the Player sliders just a bit
