I think you can play realistic games with Nba Live 2004.
I can...
I find the best sliders settings, and my best "play-style".
I write to you, how can I play real matches:
1) You must change the slider settings. ( You find these settings at the end of my message!)
2) I play 12 minutes quarter on All- Star level. I always play with the 76ers. ( my favourite team
)
3)
- a) After you loaded the game, go to the Main menu- settings- playbook, and set the opponent team's offensive strategy.
(These sets are at the end of my message !)
- b) Change your team's strategy to MAN TO MAN !!! (Not Half Court Man To Man, or Full Court, Just MAN TO MAN) It is very important, because if you use Man TO Man, the opponent team don't make so many fastbreak "shit".
- c) In the Defensive Matchups menu: change the pressure to HIGH for all players.(your team vs. the opp. team)
- d) Set your offensive strategy ( NOT IN THE "TEAM STRATEGY" MENU !!!) Just for Quick Plays:
Put 3 POINT, ISOLATION, PICK AND ROLL, POST UP etc.)
- d) And set your defensive strategy. Put Man To Man to the first place ! Use Zone, Half Court or Full Court Press, Double Team, etc.
4) LET'S PLAY.
You have to pay attention for many things ! The most important are:
1) THE DEFENSE IS THE KEY TO WIN DA GAME !!!
It's a very difficult thing to play good D .
You see that you CAN'T defend the CPU controlled player. Because, if you try it, he makes some dribbling
move, some freestyle move (especially the star players, like Kobe. T-Mac, Francis etc.)
and makes a layup, or a DUNK. And he leaves you in his dust
My suggestion is: when the point guard (or other players) bring up the ball, change to your man, who stand the fartherst from the opponent player, who has the ball. Because at that time the CPU controls your player,
and the CPU controlled player from your team cling to the opponent teams player.( I hope you understand. Sorry for my bad English
((
And if the opp. guard pass the ball to the small forward (or the SG) , you must change away to your example: point guard, who defend the opp. point guard. Now the ball is in the opp. small forwards hands, if he starts to dribbling, your SF is controlled by the CPU, and he can play GOOD DEFENSE.
But if the point guard pass the Spalding to the Big Mans ( Center or Power Forward) you you must change to
your C or PF , and press the "take charge" button, then try to block the shot, steal the ball or grab the def reb.
I use this method and it works. If you make it good, the other team's players don't make so many points from the paint. They will take medium or long range shots. ( In my games the CPU attempts about 15-25 shots from mid range and 8- 10 from this are good).
But this works not always. Sometimes they attempt about 10-12 shots, and make "all points" from the paint. This is EA's SHIT.
2) USE THE SHOT CLOCK, USE YOUR 24 SECONDS
The most important is: You have 24 seconds to make a good "offense- action". DON't play your offense "WITHOUT THINKING".
You have enough time:-)
Do not "RUN 'n' DUNK", this cause a lot of turnover, missed layups, missed dunks.
And the other team makes 2 or 3 fastbreak, and your "8 points lead" is in danger
a) Use your Quick Plays: Pick And Roll, Isolation, Post Up, 3 Point, etc.
b) Don't want make so many 3 pointers.
c) If the opp. team "is on fire" CALL TIMEOUT. It helps.
So try these things. I can play real games.
I send to you some gamestats. You can see, that there is "113-103" match, but there is "81- 73" too.
I lost many games, 'cause I was nervous, and try to run & make some quick points. But you can see I failed...
