I'm salivating over this

Hope you enjoy 3.0! I'm not sure if/when there'll be a 4.0, but if I find some other things to fix or add, it's not out of the question.

Andrew, thx for the mod!! It is great~
But it seems all the CFs are missing, the xplayer folder didn't show up after installing everything, please refer to the picture.
Could you help to solve the problem or upload the 9596 updated CFs alone in download section?
Thanks a lot~~

The faces are definitely included, so I don't know what's happened there. Try running a search for acgreen. If they've been placed in the wrong spot, I might have to tweak the installation paths.

I think it needs to have a new install wizard. I used the exe too but some of the folders were at another place.

I run a research but find nothing.
I saw xplayer running while the setup is installing but could not find anything after it's done.
And the total size of files installed is only 187MB which is smaller than the modding setup.
There might be something wrong with the paths. I will really appreciate if you can tweak it.

They have to be placed somewhere, because they're definitely compiled along with all the other files. I'll try changing the paths.

Hi Andrew, is there anyway you can transfer info from these mods which consist of player ratings, player attributes (face, height, weight, shooting hand & hair) to the Playstation 2 version of NBA Live 2004?

Unfortunately not. Completely different file formats.

Hi xshane, were you able to solve the CF problem? I'm having this problem also with most of the players having no CF in the game. Thanks.

@andrew, any chance that you can make a separate upload for the CF files? I made the installation and was able to run the game but a lot of the players have no CFs. For the Lakers, Cedric Ceballos has no CF, Kevin Johnson for the Suns, Nick Anderson etc.
The uniforms were also not showing at first but that was because I haven't enabled customart yet. When I enabled customart, the jerseys are showing but sadly, the CFs still don't. Thank you.

The faces are definitely included, so I'm puzzled as to why they're not showing up, or even being misplaced. I'll see what I can do.

Thanks, Andrew. The folders appearing on my end is the same as the folders shared by xshane above. There is no xplayer folder. I checked the xplayer folder in my files to check if the missing cfs are there but they are not. I tried looking for acgreen file and he has none. Really appreciate this, Andrew. Thanks again.

Hello
Please understand that I use a translator because I am not good at English.
Thank you for making such a great Mod.
But I have a question.
Install NBA Live 2004 on default route -
Patch is working properly.
Install on drive D -
Some players' faces did not appear.
What do you think is the cause?
Thank you for reading it.

It means the faces haven't been placed properly, because the correct folder hasn't been selected. You'll have to move those files from wherever they've been placed, to your installation folder on D.
The installation routine seems to have caused a lot of confusion over the years. They were in vogue when I first made the mod all those years ago, but these days more people seem to be comfortable extracting files directly. With the compression 7-Zip offers, I might have to release a new version that just includes the files and instructions on where to place them, as the installation routine does seem to go awry for a lot of people.

Andrew, some of the files always install to C:\Program Files\EA Sports\NBA Live 2004. They are on a fixed location wherever the user specifies. I think this relates to fact that back in 2004 most people didn't use custom folders to install games.
You should fix that as they are installed on the folder user specifies.

Hello
I solved the problem.
When installing the Mod, the custom folder has been correctly positioned several times, but still some players' faces have not appeared. (ex. Luc Longley, Dennis Rodman)
But after installing the Mod on a fixed path (C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Sports\NBA Live 2004), I've covered it in a custom folder and now the player's face comes out.
Thank you for listening to my opinion.

I'll have to check the routine, as I thought I'd set all of the art files to go to the specified folder. As I said though, I might move away from an installation .exe in favour of simply extracting from the archive. That might be easier for everyone, especially since files have to go in two places, and I can only have users select a path for one set of files.

At long last! I've released a minor update to my 1996 Season Mod, replacing the troublesome setup file with a manual installation. Please see the readme file for details!

It doesn't work on my Windows
Sun Mar 06, 2022 11:19 pm
NBA Live 2004 won't work on Windows 10 without some workarounds. It's one of the games affected by the removal of SECDRV.SYS.
I haven't had a chance to put together a guide to getting it and a few other games to run on newer Windows, but this is one workaround that you can try in the meantime.

An alternative solution to get NBA Live 2004 up and running! I'll still put together a more comprehensive step-by-step guide, but to get NBA Live 2004 to run in Windows 10, here's a quick method.
1. Install the game as normal (that part will still work in Windows 10).
2. Download
this fix and extract it to the game folder, overwriting the original game executable.
3. Run the game as normal from the shortcuts that have been created.
Note that you'll still need the original disc in the drive and a legal copy of the game. The fix is just to bypass the now-unsupported disc copy protection, since SECDRV.SYS has been removed.

Training Fix for Dynasty Mode
This is a fix for the Training bug/design flaw in NBA Live 2004's Dynasty Mode, in which assigning an insufficient amount of training time in each area will cause your players' associated ratings to decline. With this fix in place, training will only ever raise player ratings, or leave them unchanged if the required threshold isn't met.
Please note that the threshold for training time leading to an increase hasn't been altered, meaning that a high amount of training time is still required for the best results. This is something that could potentially be changed in a future update, but for now the fix is effective in removing the risk of having your players decline through training.
Key features:
- All decreases removed from Training Camp
- Default increases left intact
