things about live 2004 that get on my last nerve...

i've probably played live for about 12 hours now and there are some things that are making the game very unenjoyable to me. First off evertime u go in close and use the dunk/laup button and they do they 2 handed power layup, they miss it like 90% of the time. Now how many nba players miss wide open layups? How realistic is that? As far as i can see they have only added one new dunk and a lot of the dunks from last year i thought looked choppy and unrealistic and they are back in there. And for the love of god, if those player models got any uglier, i'd feel like i was watching the flinstones play basketball. No detail in there faces or body at all! Man i can't wait until the "Real" basketball game comes out next week with all the little touches that us basketball enthusiasts love about the game in it. For instance it's the only bball game where they each have there real free throw shooting style. For instance jason kidd blows a kiss before he shoots. Little things like that add up especially when they are combined with realistic bodies and faces and the only tv presentation on the market. I can't wait. Better luck next year EA, i don't know how u guys can play this game without wanting to toss it in the trash. I'm trading my copy in this week to put down on espn nba basketball

These were just some of the reasons why I traded in my copy of 2003 last year about a week after I got it. That and the dynasty mode was terminally flawed. I don't think I'll be buying any EA basketball games until one blows everybody away. Probably in the year 2008 by the way they're going.



By the looks of it, this years attempt was a cheap version to look like last years NBA2K3. Pretty dodgy.

that is awesome! not only do they actually have something that nba live promised us at first, but then couldn't deliver us, but they also have kareem abdul jabaar, the only game with him in it. I can't wait!

Well i don't see how u could get happy about segas b ball game. My god after playing 5 minutes of that crap i'd throw the game in the trash. Segas game is fun the first 5 minutes and then ur life wft im bored to death. I thinl ill go and masterbate now and leave this game paused and when i get back it may be better

You must be a Gamepro reviewer. I regret to inform you guys that it takes more then 12 hours to judge a game. Period.

Then I realized...that's why NBA players use the drive and dish...when you go up with two 7 foot guys standing next to you in the lane it's sometimes tough to make the shot. It works just as well in the game and I just won for the first time on superstar using that as a key part of my offense...

The graphics and presentation do remind me of a stupid imitation of 2k3 though. I don't know why...they made the game look pretty crappy...

I dunno man, ESPN is soundin' really nice... and it does run deeper than those little cosmetic touches they got. 'course I won't be getting it, even if its on gamecube (which i have no idea) because I can't stand not being able to poke around at it, make changes, and check out all the great stuff from the community. That said, realistically most of what we (as gamers) can add is just icing on the cake, and if the cake is made of shit then in the end it doesn't matter what'chya put on it. Almost time to open the 2004 gripes section . i'm jus' warming up.

i agree with sho89, there are alot of flaws in 2004 but ESPN sucks! I don't understand how people dog live and then play 2k. That game sucks and I think live took the wrong approach trying to b like it. My problems with this 2004 are the passing game (awkward weird passes), they shoot funny sometimes(sometimes two handed jumpers),catching and shooting is difficult. When you catch the ball the players move the ball around so you can't go right up with the shot. I don't really like the defense either. I like the block shots but the man to man defense sucks in my opinoin. The camera angles also suck once again. Those are just the negatives. They improved in some areas like realism but I don't think this game is really that smooth. I find it awkward in alot of ways.

I don't know if anyone has said this but to fix the missing layup problems just go to the sliders.

You should be happy with the Player Modelscause it looks good and i mean GOOD and you know whats funny? I think the EA Sports Employees checked out some of our patches cause they have HALF THE JERSEYS that we patched for 2003 like the 95-96 Red Striped black jersey Bulls Alternate


Oh and there is ANOTHER brand new Alternate game in NBA Live 2004 The MAVERICKS Its gray and the lettering on the front Says "MAVERICKS" Seeing "Mavericks" on a Mavs jersey just looks weird
