PC gamers get shafted again

Why do they even bother mentioning the PC-CD in the same breath as console games when it comes to ordering and release dates. They never keep their word when it comes to the release date of the PC version. Now the console games are in stores and the ppl who had their hopes up of playing it on their PC in the next couple of days get the news that its gonna be mid november. And no not EA brings out that news but u have to hear it from other gaming sites and shops. Now alot of ppl have made a useless run to the shops just cause EA is to fucking lazy to inform the ppl that made them into what they are today. Ofcourse its gonna be a great game and sure shit can happen that could push back the release date but atleast keep the "scene" updated.

I think you have some good points.

My feeling after being part of the live community since 95' is that EAsports has "the" worst community relations out of any developer bar perhaps Hasbro.

Each year it's the same crap, a trickle of screenshots/movies, a rubbish interview with the Executive Producer and thats it. Release dates are never accurate and if there is a delay it seems EA informs everyone other than the fans figuring that if they don't announce it perhaps we won't notice.

Many many fan messageboards that I post or have posted on have some kind of representation from the developer/publisher. This either takes the form of community reps or the developers themselves. They don't always post frequently but when they do post it's great to see and it's nice to know that your thoughts are getting through to them.

I think with this particular case the dev's don't care. They know the product will sell due to brand name recognition and EA's advertising muscle.

If anyone from EA posted here in a recognised official capacity I would congratulate them and then promptly die of shock.

But I won't hold my breath because they don't care. It must be nice to be handsomely compensated to turn out nearly ten years of unfinished garbage products. NBA Live 2003 used the same garbage offensive plays that debuted in '95 and even the same AI retreating to the three point line constantly when behind etc.

The wishlist is what you make it. It's based on suggestions from the community. If there's a problem with it, it's not EA's fault.

personally i think the pc version is the best. most bug are worked out and xbox and ps2 is to restricted to me i luv the patches and fixes added to the game. i could recall 2yrs ago we didnt have no pc games out there so be happy they hear us.

delaying the release of the game is also good for the sales of the game... People becomes so impatient that they immediately buy the game without waiting for critics about the game... and sometimes they get f*...

XBOX and PS2 versions genereate more $$$ since most ppl just download there PC games. PC games probably sell a lot less ...

I know that xbox and ps2 is also avaible online... but less ppl do it. Atleast my opinion.

If a representative is here, then this forum will be filled with questions and complains all directed to the representative guy.
There won't be many speculations or discussions because we will all just want to speak to the represesntative not the fellow forum members.

If you want to speak to EA directly, use the EA's official support page, and for me, they are pretty quick (with 24 hours) in getting back to you, though not always helpful I admit.

EA keeps in touch with Andrew so I guess that's good enough.

Don't get me wrong, I too will be glad to have someone on this board, communication with us and delivering us some quick updates and getting our feedback.

good points there. Again, dont get me wrong, I agree with you for the most part but will say only the things that I do not agree.

It's wasn't the flaming or complaints that I was worried about the most. I was more worried about the lack of discussion this board will have, since everybody will be waiting for EA's answer rather than discussing ourselves.

Also, i think EA informs Andrew pretty much everything that they can.
Whatever Andrew can't tell, I am sure EA representative won't tell either.

doesnt even have to be a representative just get some more info on the website on how things are moving along shit about release dates getting pushed back and why. If they would just say we pushed it back cause we had some major bugs to fix etc then i think alot of ppl could accept that. Now u get some info left and right about a possible delay and u just have to wait and hope they have it wrong.

I think EA has figured that it's main market is teenagers from about 12-16, who by and large, mainly focus on the graphics, dunks and audio qualities of a LIVE game (and who also happen to mainly use consoles). I may be being a bit discriminatory here but I think thats the case. Feel free to disagree. I form my opinion from teaching and working with many teenagers.

EA has counted the beans and feels that more money is to be made in a quick and easy version with good concepts that exist in the game but don't actually work. And as long as they keep selling the massive amounts of games that they do, their formula will not change.

Live 2001 through to 2003 and reviews coming out about 2004 should have made this obvious.

While I agree with you that EA's main focus is on money, the biggest change this year was the gameplay, and that's a big difference from the 2003 version (that you describe with the graphics and dunks, although audio is better this year).
