New motion engine AGAIN? Didn't that ruin the game back in 17/18 or something?

I didn't care for the new motion engine that was introduced with NBA 2K18, and this generation hasn't felt quite right to me either, though ProPLAY has shown great potential thus far. This is apparently the first big overhaul to that tech since NBA 2K21.

The color and tone of the ball are excellent, finally, not too dark and not too light. Why couldn't this be done for the previous NBA2Ks?
