Join me in creating the most complete retro era roster

Postby timmyd on Thu Dec 19, 2024 6:23 am

Hi everyone,

Long time fan of these pages, dating back to NBA2k10 with Kobe on the cover.

For the longest time, I have been editing rosters and creating rosters for personal use to get the most accurate retro results, scores and statistics. In recent years I have been playing thundershaq's rosters (HUGE THANK YOU AND SHOUT OUT) and really tweaking it for my own personal use. For instance, I've figured out ratings and tendencies now and I have have a 2001 season simulated with Allen Iverson averaging 30+ points per game BUT also shooting a realistic low 40% from the field and averaging 8+ freethrows per game. Overall, teams would be scoring in the 70s - 90's.

I am going to begin working on a Lebron James Era roster and would be greatly appreciative if others would like to showcase there work and chime in whenever possible.

I am not able to mod or create graphics..(I am old and honestly it's way too complex for me).

What I can do is create players (Generic faces) but with the correct names, height etc and have accurate ratings, tendencies...

I think the real help would be in having cyberfaces and courts.

I know SRT lebron has a Lebron era court pack which I've bought and I use, I will need to speak to him to see if he would be willing to allow me to use (i doubt it since its for sale).

If anyone is willing to help, please let me know!

I will need cyberfaces to start.
Willing to help complete rosters for season/my league use.

Cyberfaces are time consuming to make and need paid for software. Not sure many people are going to donate those. You can create courts easily enough, however old you are.
Good luck though.

Agree...
We can't even make our own unique CFID, we have to overwrite existing cyberfaces. This year Roster editing isn't that much user friendly. We need that looyh's hook. Still good luck with the project... (Y) (Y) (Y)

Can you explain this? Because this doesn't line up with what I know from making cyberfaces for past 2Ks.

In the past, we needed Blender (Free), the plugin for blender (free), and could use Paint.net if we didn't want to pay for photoshop. Are you stating that the blender plugin is no longer free?

That is what I am stating. I'm slightly surprised you aren't aware of this?
Also the lack of a hook makes it difficult replacing several faces that don't have actual cfs afaik

I was not aware that there wasn't a workaround for the Blender plugin.

It's unfortunate that so many mods/tools are being placed behind paywalls. It's a community killer.

I completely agree but I get pilloried for saying this!
If people are making mods they want to use then it seems crappy to sell it to others IMO but it seems I'm the exception these days.

With the ability to share rosters now and also having this my era mode, retro rosters should be alot easier....i just wish we had the 2k tools to edit the players. But hey, if you need my help im there bro. Sounds good to me. We need a few guys willing to do free work and just have fun creating rosters

Thanks brother!

I am looking at what resources we have for free, and off the top of my head Shuajota has released a few packs (which I have) and these contain some of the missing player cyberfaces for instance Tayshaun Prince.. Wesley Johnson.

I am looking at it from this perspective. If we can create a LeBron Era Roster with two versions...

First version: "Post Decision" in which LeBron has already signed with the Heat with Bosh joining.

Second version: "Pre Decision" in which LeBron is still deciding on a decision, so he will be placed on the Cavs roster but as a free agent (I am thinking this can be done).

In terms of roster, if I can flush out the following myself:

- Add missing players with cyberfaces that are already available for us online (with consent to there creators)
- Edit ratings, Tendencies and player DNA
- Edit accessories
- Edit playbooks

Then I can share a list of the last set of missing players. I am hopeful that if we can get to this point, we may have some talented folks jump on to help with there cyberface making skills.

Courts, I have no issues doing and I've watched a few tutorials and I have a few friends from the Chinese modding sights that are willing to help me with courts for the LeBron Era.

I really think we can get a full roster this year and at least give the fans a way to carry on LeBron's legacy as a Heat or wherever else we signs with the looming threat of OKC, Spurs, and the splash brothers coming in a couple seasons.
