Some questions on trades, MyEra and substitutions

Postby Leander on Mon Oct 28, 2024 1:59 pm

Hi!

I bought the game some days ago and like it more than 2k23, 20 etc.

Some questions:

1) Are exceptions "legal" and official in the NBA or is it overriding the CPU? I wanted to get DiVicenzo back...and some popup was shown, talking about an exception. Is this an official NBA rule or something to override trades the CPU wants to deny?

2) Is it possible that the 1991 era is easier than the current one? I started on pro, won all games with ease (1991 Knicks), my opponents played slowly and shot poorly...but the modern era is better, drives to the basket, uses cheese passes etc. ... coincidence or is there a difference?

3) Can you start a season by using current injuries? M. Robinson, Achuwa etc. all were healthy although they are injured in real life.

4) Is the coaching plan STILL broken after all those years? I just want to set minutes for every player...even moving some pllayers to the reserves..but then Brunson does not get the most minutes, players with 0 minutes are subbed in and even players on the reserve list! Is it still impossible to have the CPU use the substituions you set?

1. Trade exceptions are a real thing that help teams facilitate deals under the cap, so that's legit.

2. It's possible! The default Eras rosters have a lot of ratings issues, so you're not necessarily playing against teams and players with their best/most realistic abilities and tendencies.

3. That should be added to the rosters in time if it's not already. The latest update may not reflect some of those injuries as yet. You can set players as injured when customising rosters of course, and then start a MyNBA with that custom roster.

4. I haven't looked into it yet so someone else might be able to provide more insight, but it wouldn't be surprising if it remains a legacy issue.

Thanks!

3) The players are injured in the official 2k roster. Mitchell Robinsin, Precious Achuwa etc...then I used the roster to start an era and both played. Maybe I missed some menu option before starting the era.

Have there been patches yet?

Just started playoff mode for best of 3 series. Game 1 vs. Philadelphia began with no introduction of the teams at all ("game 1, Knicks vs. 76ers blabla"), but "starting at point guard...Jalen Brunson"...it was the first thing that was shown...then a starting 5 screen for both teams, but no single word (audio) on the actual teams that were about to play....it felt broken...oh, and not to mention that my team was filled with two players from the free agent list including Gallinari...what the...

I did not even see an option to allow or disallow the signing of free agents before game 1 of the playoffs.

i think when starting a new myera league you have to scroll through the options and you should see an option to use current roster injuries or something along those lines, then it should start with the injuries active

I started myera -> modern several times and set trading, free agents to off. I checked all settings multiple times. However, the Knicks (my team) sign Winslow and Fournier every single start of a season...so I have 17 players including 2 way contracts.

Rosters will be auto-filled if they don't have 15 fully contracted players plus the 2-way players. It's annoying, but it is by design.

The Knicks now have 17 players. When I want to release one of the two signed free agents, the popup tells me that 14 players are needed...but 17-2 = 15...or don't injured players count towards your roster of 14?
There are 3 2-way players (Hukporti, Toppin, McCullar who is already injured), but they can play for the Knicks...

Ok, I signed them for the remainder of the season and got rid of automatically signed free agents...still a mediocre move by 2k to auto sign such players instead of asking me.

The rosters 2K makes don't follow the "rules" the game forces you to use. They have 18 on most teams. If you release a player you loose a roster slot.
Per Wikipedia.
NBA rosters are limited to 15 players during the regular season, plus three players on two-way contracts, expanding each team's roster to 18 players maximum. Teams may carry up to 20 players during the offseason.

2K does not follow the NBA rules. We should have 18 roster slots. This makes it hard to maintain your own roster. For 2K24 2K did not have the correct number of two way players. I guess it takes them awhile to catch up.
