Affiliations Explained
Courtside Report Summary
- MyCAREER in NBA 2K24 has been streamlined to focus on your basketball career, rather than off-court ventures. The ultimate goal of MyCAREER is to become the Greatest of All-Time.
- This year's MyPLAYER character is described as "the most anticipated prospect in the last 20 years", tying into the journey to GOAT-hood.
- There will be a "Key Games" feature that allows you to play the most important games based on matchups, rival teams, and milestone achievements. As an aside, the blog refers to it as a new feature, though a very similar function was available in NBA 2K13 and NBA 2K14. However, it does sound like it might be slightly more sophisticated.
- Completing goals and winning games will earn bigger VC payouts.
- The City in NBA 2K24 will be located by the beach, with 3v3 courts for casual competition found along the waterfront. Meanwhile, the beachfront street is where 2K Pro-Am, The Rec, Ante-Up, The Theater, Club 2K, and Starting 5 are located.
- Starting 5 is a new online 1v1 head-to-head mode, in which gamers face off with squads featuring their MyPLAYER and four NBA players. In that respect, it's similar to a MyCAREER game, except in an online competitive setting.
- A Streetball sidequest provides an alternative single player experience in addition to the NBA side of MyCAREER. It features its own progression system and rewards, some of which can be used to gain advantages in the online team play modes.
- There are two Park Affiliations in NBA 2K24's City: RISE and ELITE. Gamers will get to choose their Affiliation, and reap the benefits as the two sides compete throughout the year.
- REP returns and will not reset with every Season. However, REP will reset if you change Affiliation. Special logos and rewards are available to gamers who can maintain the highest REP.
