NBA 2K22 not being Next Gen on PC

Talk about NBA 2K22 here.

Considering that the Xbox Series X is basically a DirectX 11/12 Windows 10 PC as far as OS and capabilities I'm sure the reason that FIFA22, Madden22 and NBA2K22 are not getting Next Gen upgrades again is because of some agreement these companies made with Sony and Microsoft. I can't believe a port from Xbox Series X to a Windows 10 PC with DX12 capable card in it would be much work for them. Yes they will have to add features for graphics settings and such and keyboard support. So like someone above said I'm sure this is some agreement or kick back they got from Sony/Microsoft not to do a PC version of Next Gen for xyz years after release of new consoles. That's my conspiracy theory at least. :)

Sports games have always had crap support on PC since modern consoles came around and I feel like I will always have to own a console to play the best sports games as I have done since original Xbox.

Sucks though since playing sports games on my 38' Ultra Wide is pretty sweet not to mention the unused power of the RTX 3090 on PS4/Xbox One level graphics.

It's possible that there are promotional deals for the new console generation, however porting games is not that simple for PC.

Microsoft is trying to make it easier with DX 12 Ultimate, but if your game uses older variants of the API you're back to where you were before they released it.

And secondly for consoles you need to optimize for two variants (in case of Xbox). On PC that gets significatly more complicated since you don't have a standardized configuration.

100%. A similar story once happened with Star Wars Force Unleashed, when was no releasing of PC version the game and it was explained that the PC hardware would not be able to handle the game (in same time it released on PS2/PS3 etc.), which was complete nonsense :D . Then, however, it was ported.

But isn´t it good for Modding, that 2k22 is still not in Next-Gen frame?

It´s potentially could be very realistic that we can use the 2k21 Mods in 2k22

That is a possible silver lining, the high degree of compatibility of mods and tools out of the gate.

2k released the system requirements for 2k22 on its Steam page. Not surprisingly, there are the same as 2k21.

Is this good for modding? Meaning that the tools we use for 2k21 should be compatible for 2k22 correct?

I've just done some extensive modding for 2k21 with player models, shaders, and everything. It will be a blessing if all my mods transition smoothly to 2k22. Hopefully we get some of the new badges as well. People are saying that the defense is a lot better so hopefully this is true for PC too.

That is probably the case. From the videos I have seen, the graphics on current gen look the same.

The player models, faces, etc.

We should be able to hit the ground running modding wise.

I’m not sure the PC version got all the defensive upgrades that next gen got. Mike Wang only mentioned dribbling moves and animations being on both versions. I hope it did get the defense though. I already got the XBSX NG version but I’ll get the PC version for mods once it’s on at least 50% sale

If they didn't touch gameplay then I'm a have to ask for a refund. Because it looks like they did not touch Myleague and if the gameplay is still the same then 2k22 is nothing but a roster update, which is something that us PC players don't need since we can mod and create players as we wish.

The gameplay is considerably different, cpu defense in particular is waaaaay improved. Generally a much more satisfying exprerience. Alas, the graphics are the same and having played the next gen version they look quite outdated. Gameplaywise the game is probably the best since 2k16.

my 2k21 was quite broken because of saves and such so I decided to move onto 2k22.

played 1 game of MyTeam Draft and I gotta say that the gameplay is much better than 2k21 - like no comparison.

you get rewarded for smart shots ( greening is much easier, I wouldn't touch myteam because it was impossible to green last year with the team and now if you take open shots it's almost a guaranteed green, and I fucking love it )

Defense is MUCH better. I had Mutombo on my team and it defintely felt like Mutombo ( so many crazy blocks ) and overall you see a lot more physical interaction.

I still need to get used to the new dribbling system but even that feels much more realistic and fluid than last year.

it is too bad that it's still like current gen and a lot of stuff like from myleague stayed the same but the gameplay is that much better and I really hope that mike wang WONT TOUCH IT CAUSE IT'S PERFECT THE WAY IT IS.

Well looks like none of the MyLeague bugs have been touched.

Rookies still sign qualifying offers at the end of their rookie deals when they agree to an extension with you...
