number/letter question

Postby Bassman58 on Mon Oct 05, 2020 4:25 am

Is it possible to swap a number from team X to team Y? Can I just replace the color, region and normal DDS and TXTR files with another? This includes the false color files. I just want a different font on a jersey. Are there any tutorials for 2k19 to 2k21 letter/number editing?

In a word, Yes! I performed a couple of methods. The first procedure is I used the letter and number fonts in the game. The letter fonts are generic by default, so they don't have to be changed (Unless you want to change the color). Using an editor like Photoshop or Paint.net you can change the color, font, or both. First, pay close attention to the pixels count of the file. This is important because you will be using the same tweak file that''s associated with the number file you are modding. Therefore, the placement of the numbers and the number file you use is important.

For example, the size of the number file you want to change is 2205 x 256. However, the number file size you choose to use instead is 1511 x 256. To solve this issue, first change the size of the number file 1511 x 256 to match the number file that you will substitute, in this case, 2205 x 256. Make a copy of the new size file. Now create a new layer in the window of the old file and paste the new file overlaying the old file. If you are in Photoshop, there's a tool at the top of the list called "Rectangular Marquee Tool", use this tool to choose the numbers individually to manually change the size to fit within the parameters of the numbers underneath.

After each use of the RMT, press "Control+T" to bring up the "Free Transform" box to perform your edits. Once all your editing is complete, save the file to your desktop. Now bring the .iff window back to the front and highlight the number color file. Right click once to copy file name. Now paste file name to new file that you saved to your desktop. Now drag the new file from your desktop into the .iff window. You will receive a message asking to save changes, click OK. Now replace the normal and region files with generic ones. (They can be found in the modding section)

The other method, is to make and choose your own font style. All you have to do is create a new layer over the same size of the file you will be replacing. Next type the numbers you want to use in the blank canvas box, resizing until the number you typed fits within the parameters of numbers underneath. Follow the remaining steps from above.
