It's interesting, because NBA 2K16 seems to be more graphically demanding....
Either way, this is the CPU I bought (I didnt buy it for 2K21, I bought it because I decided to upgrade in general)
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/cyberpower ... Id=6362428I paid around $1100 for it and got a bigger SSD. I can run games in 4K (including NBA 2K21), and can run games like Monster Hunter World, Batman Arkham Knight, Witcher 3, Borderlands 3, etc on Ultra. I have not run into a game that I cant max out and get 60 fps (I play on a TV that cant go beyond 60 fps, and that's fine because 60 FPS is fantastic).
How future proof is it? Well, I personally think that if we get 2K22 on PC with PS5/Series X graphics, that I will be able to handle it just fine.
Because the CPU I showed above is out of stock now, my brother wanted to upgrade so he bought this one.
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/cyberpower ... Id=6400453Again, he can run all games on Ultra with absolutely no framedrops/issues.... he loves it. The only problem with this one is it gets hot, which is why I have a slight advantage with mine. My temperatures are always solid with no issues.
I play on a Samsung 50 inch tv, he plays on a Vizio 50 inch tv, both with incredibly low input lag (we don't notice any delay AT ALL. All of my gameplay videos on my youtube channel are playing on TVs like the two I mentioned above. We use Xbox One Wirelss controllers... so basically we use our PCs like a console and play on the couch.
Either way, hope some of this helps. I have stuck with AMD ever since 2013, as they have not steered me wrong. I had an R9 270, followed by an R9 280x, followed by a 480, and now the 5700xt. Right now the 5700xt retails for around $400 by itself I believe.
