About

This mod contains everything you need for the following rosters:

Thunder Shaq's Ultimate Retro Roster (viewtopic.php?f=258&t=107928)

PTSports Retro Roster (viewtopic.php?f=258&t=110047)

dmx_133's 1989 - 1990 Roster (viewtopic.php?f=258&t=108680)

Thunder Shaq's 1996 - 97 Roster (viewtopic.php?f=258&t=109897)

RMJH4's 2K1 & 2K2 Roster (viewtopic.php?f=258&t=109688)

Thunder Shaq's 2010 Roster (viewtopic.php?f=258&t=110249)

These rosters are also supported as a bonus with enhancements, but will need to be downloaded separately and put in :
DO NOT PUT THESE IN WAIGUA!

RobDavis' College Hoops (Download seperately and put in college folder) (viewtopic.php?f=258&t=107877)

Da InFaMous NY's Summer Circuit Drew League Mod (1.0.1) (Download seperately and put in summer folder) (https://www.webgemsnyc.com/how-to-setup ... eague-mod/)

PC Basket 2K20 by Shuajota (Download seperately and put in pc_basket folder) (http://www.shuajota.com/2020/02/pc-bask ... oster.html)

Slam Dunk Mod by EGS (Download seperately and put in SD MOD folder) (https://www.shuajota.com/2020/06/nba-2k ... 3041909973)

AGAIN, DO NOT PUT THESE IN WAIGUA!

The 2020 Playoffs are also included with a custom HP Field House court:
viewtopic.php?f=258&t=110252

Every team has uniquely assigned broadcast packages, appropriate stadiums, dornas, floors, and other enhancements all in one package.

Season Roster Mods are cross-compatible, so for example, you can start a MyLeague in 1990 and use the '97 mod when you get to your 7th season.

Video Demonstration

(Demo is of version 1.0.0)

Here is a screenshot of version 1.0.6: (Top Is standard keyboard launcher. Bottom is controller launcher.)

How Does It Work?

Inside the config folder, there are seperate folders with configs for NBA2K_Hook. Every team has assigned their own stadium, floor, dornas, scoreboard, studio, wipe, and if appropriate, referees, cyberfaces, crowds, jerseys and more.

This means we only need to use a cyberface one time for multiple rosters. Same can be said for everything else. The beauty is waigua folder is never changed for the retro mods (except intro screens), and it allows you to install current courts/jerseys/dornas without interfering either way.

Getting Started

1. Download the mod first (it will take time):
See links at the top.

2. Download the rosters

Search User ID Thunder Shaq for the Ultimate Retro Roster, 1996 - 97 Roster, 2010, and 2011.

Search User ID ptoal84 for PTSports Retro Roster

Search User ID seaboh for 2K1 & 2K2 Roster

dmx_133's 1989-90 roster is offline. Go to his forum post to download and install (viewtopic.php?f=258&t=108680) Here is a tutorial to get it up and running: viewtopic.php?f=258&t=108680&start=125#p2010439

Other season rosters on 2k share will work with this mod as well. Let me know if there's a specific roster you think is worth being supported.

3. Install this mod:

Put everything in the game folder in your NBA 2K20 game folder. Please, backup your NBA2K_Hook folder if you've done any work with the tool you don't want to lose.

4. Double click _Retro_Mod_Launcher.bat and select which roster you want to use. It will automatically set up the mod and run the game for you.

You can create a shortcut to this on your desktop or from wherever you want to launch the game.

* You can also create a shortcut to each version if you'd like.

In the config folder, you'll find a batch assigned to each roster. You can create shortcuts to them individually if you want a "game" for each roster.

* For those who want to use game controller for the launcher, check out the "Setup Game Controller Launcher" folder. Special thanks to pastrami1993 for making this possible.

RobDavis' College Hoops, Da InFaMous NY's Summer Circuit Drew League Mod, Shuajota's PC Basket 2K20, and EGS' Slam Dunk Mod must be downloaded and installed separately. See the college, summer, pc_basket, and SD MOD folder for basic instructions to set up the respective mods.

I think this would save time for some people who want it all but doesn't want to download separately. I would not make patchers opt out but ask each individually as some might not see this

Yeah, that's probably better. I changed the original post to reflect that.

I'm absolutely up for that. There is potentially a lot of work involved in combining it though. Some people have created cyberfaces with the same names, and they would be the wrong face for a different player on different rosters. So somebody would need to rename those cyberface files, and then assign the new id in the relevant roster. Same for courts, uniforms etc potentially. So for example going from Thunder Shaqs 96-97 roster to my 00-01 roster, somebody like Allen Iverson's cyberface would be changed. Now both files are in game already and we have assigned them that way, but their could be quite a few players out there with similar situations. If we are to add 09-10 roster then as well more changes for cyberfaces would be needed.

Back with URB and those mod's I'm pretty sure they came up with a common database whereby everyone knew what file numbers to overwrite next etc.

Lot of work on config files too, but I've no doubt It could be done and used by the majority of people in here inevitably there will be people who can't get it to work right still and complain, but that will always be a problem.

Absolutely include everything from my roster in this mod though. Anything to make the gaming experience better for everyone!

My only suggestions would be to make a torrent, and share it that way, since too many links may throw people away. Other than that, great idea (Y)

Torrent is also a good idea, since a combination of multiple mods may become a huge file that's too big to host anywhere or try to download at one time. Andrew would have a better idea of this though.

Thanks RMJH4. The cyberfaces would be a challenge, but that could be dealt with through the configs as well if we don't want to touch the original roster.

I've done most of the config work already for broadcasts, arenas, floors, dornas, and referees.

Torrent would be efficient for something of that size. Probably would do direct link + torrent.

Totally ok with that. That's a good idea, modding community first ! I'm working on accurate draft classes with 0 year pro for each player, good ratings, rookie look and an accurate boom/bust system (11,12,13 and 14 done now). Maybe it could be include in this. If some people are interested with draft classes, I could share those. But like it's been said, cyberfaces assignation could be a pain...

Good idea anyway (Y)

as an ordinary user, I'd think it's a good idea, easy.

but we all saw what happened with UBR and URB years after they started their project with mostly the same idea.

I'll think about it for a few days but as a modder, my firsts feelings are to stay away from this project.

Thanks gregotin. Love to include that.

To address the cyberface issue, we could have a folder for each mod's cyberface and then redirect to that in the config file.

So taking Allen Iverson on 2K1 for example: it could be located in waigua/2K1/face8631.iff

The config file can redirect to that.

This way, you could use the 97 roster to start a franchise, but when you get to your third year, you switch to the 2K1 config and now you're using the appropriate stadiums/floors/dornas/cyberfaces for the time you're in.

Appreciate your honest feedback. I don't know if I would want to do this without your scoreboards/courts/referrees/etc. I guess I could direct people to download them separately, but feels like that would defeat the purpose. Totally respect whatever you want to do. You've done so much to make the game what it is already.

I'm relatively new to modding, so I wasn't around to see what happened with UBR and URB.

Is there something that should concern me?

Most of the mods in my roster (outside of portraits, logos, and various cyberfaces) are from other people's work in the community, so I don't have a lot of power when it comes to approving re-sharing those files

Yeah. I wouldn't expect you to do that.

I'll be reaching out to everyone involved that doesn't respond here to see if they're up for something like this. I think it would be a cool project if we get the green light from enough people.

We'll see what happens.

Update: So far all responses via PM's have been positive. If this trend continues, the project will be viable!

I answered your PM but I will also do it publicly and maybe others will follow.

I think this is a great idea and you are more then welcome to use any of my mods.

Fantastic stuff bro ! Im making some progress also importing michaelvlutz lighting into the different stadiums. Have gone through like half of them ( of the main retro roster ). I think that can be a nice alternative.

Thanks jabo. Hoping to release in about an hour. Power went out last night, so had to start again this morning, but shouldn't take too long!

Will be a torrent and mediafire link.
