2k20 NCAA March Madness Roster

Postby cfescript on Mon Mar 09, 2020 7:26 am

Hello and thank you for clicking on this post! Since Selection Sunday is just a week away, I wanted to make a college basketball roster since there isn't anything good on PC yet. Creating a bunch of players is a bunch of work, so I decided to use player DNA to speed up the process. I am going to take look-alike players and copy their appearance, as well as players with a similar play style. For example, Tre Jones looks like his brother Tyus Jones and plays a lot like All-Time Chris Paul. I would take the player DNA appearance of Tyus and the attributes from Chris Paul and combine them to make Tre Jones. Although this can greatly speed up the process, it still takes a lot of time and knowledge. I created a spreadsheet and a google form for people to fill out if they would like to contribute. All info collected will be posted on the spreadsheet in case ps4 or xbox users would like to create these players themselves.

I picked the top 6 teams from each Power 5 conference as well as the Big East. You can only have 6 divisions/conferences with 6 teams each in a 2k season, so it made sense to do the 6 best teams from the 6 best conferences. Please do not be offended or upset if your team is not included. If I get submissions for teams like Gonzaga, SDSU, and Dayton, I will add them to the roster as well. These are the teams that I have included:

    ACC:
FSU, Louisville, Virginia Duke, Georgia Tech, and Syracuse
    Big 12:
Kansas, Baylor, West Virginia, Texas Tech, Texas, and Oklahoma
    Big Ten:
Wisconsin, Maryland, Michigan State, Illinois, Ohio State, and Penn State
    Pac 12:
Oregon, UCLA, USC, Arizona, Arizona State, and Colorado
    SEC:
Kentucky, LSU, Auburn, Florida, Mississippi State, and South Carolina
    Big East:
Creighton, Villanova, Seaton Hall, Providence, Butler, and Marquette

How can I help?
There are a few ways you can help. You can pick one of the following methods, but please follow the player creation format listed below. The goal is to have at least 8 players on each team. I follow the Big Ten the most, so I am going to work on filling out those teams first, but feel free to still submit rosters for those teams.

- The most helpful way is to create a team roster inside the game. Go to my form listed below and fill out the first section. It will ask you what team you created, the roster's name, and the creator's name so that it can be found when searching in game. Please note that it has to be shared publicly in game in order to be found.

- If you don't want to create an entire roster, you can fill out the form. You can fill out just a couple, or an entire team. Obviously, the more players you fill out, the more it helps.

- You can also comment on the spreadsheet if you think that there are any changes that you think are necessary.

I am a Michigan State fan, so I filled them out first. You can use them as an example.

Player Creation Format:

The most important and helpful info would be the player comparisons. It isn't too hard to look up a player's info as far as their height weight year etc, but I don't know every players skill set and abilities. Please try and be as unbiased as possible when suggesting these. Here is a baseline when considering overalls:

    All-American: 95-99
    All-Conference: 90-95
    Team Star: 85-90
Solid Starter or 6th man: 80-85
    Bench: 70-80
An example of this would be Cassius Winston. His player comparison is Steve Nash. Cassius is one of the best players in the country and Nash is 96 overall in 2k. Nash is also a pass-first point guard who is also good at scoring and shooting. These values can differ from team to team. Better teams should have better overall players and vise versa, but at the same time just about all of these teams are top 25 or close to it. That means every team should be as balanced as possible. Some changes might be made based on your suggestions in order to help balance each team.

The second most helpful info would be the player's look-alike. Try and find a player that looks similar in 2k. Keep in mind body type although this isn't super important. Their face doesn't have to be exactly the same. Just try to pick someone that would look like the same person from far away. In a game, you won't be able to see their exact face very well, so as long as it looks similar from far away. If you really can't find a comparison, you can put "custom" for their look alike. I will try and find their player creation online, or attempt one myself. Please limit this to only the highest their of players since this is a lot more work. If you are creating an entire roster in game, feel free to customize ever single player if you would like.

The final bit of info required would be stuff like height, weight, number, or anything else like that. This info is pretty easy to find online, so it isn't super important if you don't want to fill it out on your own. More important info would be stuff like their signature accessories like arm sleeves or a head band. I wont go too much in detail about this stuff unless it is explicitly noted.

NOTE: anyone creating their own roster please be conscious of player numbers and age. Their birthday isn't super important, but try not to have anyone who is like 28 years old. Also try to make "years in pro" relative to their year in college. For example freshman would be 0 years in pro where as a senior would be 3.

Thank you for reading this and thank you to anyone who would like to help out! Feel free to reply or message me with any questions or suggestions.

You should look at my roster uploaded as "College". I have pretty much done the same thing already that you are working on.

If you scroll down this forum, I have 2 topics about this, one is alerting that I was getting close to completion where I describe how I have set up both the roster and the draft class to work together in the My League off season. The second adds a little more detail, but also provides a few lists...to help organize the off season to keep it as accurate as possible. One is a list of Seniors who should go to free agency (only exceptions I realized today is due to bird years of the original player, and have yet to fix...but its only a handful of players). The second is a list of who to draft for each school. The third is who to sign from the free agent created freshman that I have a pool of somewhere between 80 and 100 or so extra incoming freshman added to go along with the undrafted players from the draft.

As the season closes for teams, and players start making decisions on whether they transfer somewhere, or go pro, I am planning on using the draft DNA's to make a preliminary roster for 2021, so that I can add extra 2021 incoming freshman to the free agent market as well.
