Importing shoes from older 2k's and editing them

Postby drabberplane on Sun Dec 29, 2019 5:35 am

After many hours of trying i have almost successfully imported non-editible kicks from 2k17 to 2k20 and even made them editable.

First I've imported every file associeted with Kobe 3 in 2k20 (3d model used in game and in edit mode, shoe_ng and shoe_fe files) and then I simply replaced every file and layers of that shoe with its counterparts of Way of wade shoe from 2k17. Shoe is visible in game, in edit mode and I can even create new colorways in shoe editor.

And then I've hit a brick wall. Shoe in-game always looks blank-white, no matter which colorway, created or one of team colorways, i will equip.

I would really appreciate some helps guys, especially from those that have experience in shoe modding because i feel like im really on to something but i can go any further on my own.

The shoe model shown in the edit screen is a different model than the one shown in game based on my experience from 2k17 shoe modding.

I would like to help because all my shoe mods are from 2k17 but I have comepletely forgotten how to mod shoes.

That's right, model shown in shoe creator is different, more detailed. But i can see also this shoe in game so it loaded properly, it's just white-blank so there must be something wrong with colorway textures. Btw just tried this but with 2k17 to 2k18 conversion and it works perfectly. I've created new colorway of non-editible shoe and it work in game also. There must have been some change in file structure in 2k20 or 2k19 when in comes to colorways, anyone aware of that?

Thanks man, appreciate it  I've been watchin many of your YT tutorials, they've been huge help!
Link with files of shoe that im trying to import:
https://we.tl/t-rbr5ykXoF4
I think the problem might be in "shoe_fe_model_shoes_wayofwade5" because i cant find files of that type in 2k20 thru manifest. That might be model that we see in game…

P.S. I've replaced drose8 model with those files in 2k18 and it works both in shoe creator and in-game.

I messed around and found out the yeezy's 3d files are really still in the game.

shoe_fe_model_shoes... are definitely not in the game but I'm not sure that is causing the issue

EDIT:
the way of wade 5 3d model is still in the game files according to the manifest

yep those shoes appear to be in the game files still but I think their shoe_style file is missing
Below confirms the 3D models are still in, I believe the shoe textures are in also.

 We really need to figure out how to add show slots so we can make all shoes that are hidden appear along with newly created shoes.

Thats awesome, how'd you pulled this off? Are they also appearing in edit mode? I ve been going thru shoe_global and i think 7203 is the shoe id for WOW 6, but i cant find files marked as 7201 and that was shoe id for WOW5 in 2k18. They may be gone and whats left are those 3d model, just like with those nikes

Back in 2K17 I figured out that I could make hidden shoes replace the generic 2K shoes in the shoe menu by simply renaming the shoe_fe_X.iff, shoe_ng_X.iff, and most importantly the shoe_style_x.iff.
If you replace the "x" with a "0" the shoes will replace the generic shoes. I still had the Yeezy files from my 2K17 mods (which are in the download section on NLSC) and just put them all in the waigua>shoes folder
Image

then in game I assigned the 2k generic shoe as a colorway and they show correctly

yes but you will need the original shoe_style_x.iff, shoe_fe_x.iff, and shoe_ng_x.iff files from the old game.

The only thing about the yeezy is that it was never an editable shoe so the shoe texture displays only one colorway.
Editable shoes may still show up as all white, until we figure out what is going on.

And thats exactly what I've been doing with those files of WOW5 that i've exported from 2k17/18 but they always show up blank-white, no matter which colorway i'll choose. Can you try doing this but with those files that i've send you?

 Just confirmed that the shoe_global.iff is responsible for all the shoe previews in the in game shoe menu

I removed all shoes from the shoe global except the Shoe_509 files which are the Jordan X and as you can see, only Jordan X shows up.
Now I need to try to add missing files like 7201. The downside is everytime I change the shoe_global.iff, the game needs to restart to see the changes.

Edit:
Actually now all players are wearing generic shoes since I removed all the shoes from shoe global.

Everything I find will be released or you could just go find the files in the 2K17 download section and place them all in the waigua>shoes folder like mentioned in one of the previous posts

im sorry, but that is not working. Selecting "colorway" doesnt show the shoe in the player editor and selecting "model" makes the shoe all white. It is also crashing my game. What did you do to fix this?

I've added those shose to in-game menu without changing anything in shoe_global, just replaced shoe_fe file of drose8 with wow5 from 2k18. Still white-blank in game and edit mode.
