Thanks for this tool trevorjpt33! Question, for converting 2k18 CFs to 2k20, will it just be a 1 click process? Just asking for someone like me who does not have any modding experience and do not know anything about blender etc. Thanks again!

Just to clarify on your example files. Is this correct?
hihead.dc495e70tec71be2.model = from 2k20 model you want to base your conversion off of
hihead.SCNE = from 2k20 model
nba2kxx.model = from the 2k19 mikan

So it is basically:
- take a 2k20 png as base
- use the tool to create new .scne and .model
- import them back into 2k20 png

right?

I suppose that If I have a png from 2k19 with 3d beard and hair won't be transposed to 2k20 with that tools right?
We then have to import them again right?

Ok... You have to put the 2k20_convert_kit in your user folder (Just like you did with the shrinkwrap tool) for it to work.
I converted Young1996's Trevon Duval from NBA 2K19 this way:
Once you open the folder (delete the hihead.scene & hihead.model files that are already there) you have paste the "Hihead.scene" and the hihead.model files from the 2k17,2k18, 2k19 player PNG model that you want to convert.
Then rename the same hihead.model file from the player you are converting to "nba2kxx" (Rename it in a separate place than where you just pasted it). Once you rename it copy and paste it where you pasted the hihead.scene and the hihead.model file so that it should look like Trevor's picture of the folder. Open the tool, select which year you are converting from, then hit the Convert player button. It should say that the conversion was successful in the black box. Then open the "Converted" folder and there should be a new hihead.scene & Hihead.model. Paste them into the png and you should be good to go.

I think it may be
hihead.model = model 2K20 (This # is what will in up in the converted folder)
hihead.scne= from 2K20 (Has to be edited like you do for blender)
nba2kxx.model = model from past game

The hair/beard has be done separately I think but I'm pretty delirious from playing around with this right now.

Yo sorry guys I worked 9am-9pm yesterday and once I got home I wanted to make sure I got the tool released like I said I would. I intended to follow it with a guide on how to use it, but I fell asleep immediately afterwards. I didn't mean to leave you all in a lurch scrambling to figure out how to use the tool.

Here is a PDF of a guide that I typed out this morning. Hopefully this clears up any remaining questions you have. If not, don't hesitate to ask and I will do the best I can to clear things up.

in appareance file you have to add those 3 lines after mouth color:

"pore tiling": "REGULAR",
"min roughness": 0.324,
"max roughness": 0.73,

Does he have the "looking up" or "looking off to the side" issue? I ran into that doing 2K18 to 2K17 conversions, and found a fix at the time.

It looks like his eyes are rolling back a little by default in that screen.

Yeah, the same happened with Barkley. The face animations dont work, but he looks great otherwise.

No you don’t necessarily have to shrinkwrap after but it’s recommended. In some cases like yours you might prefer to make other edits.

Also, thanks for the heads up about those extra 3 lines in the appearance_info.RDAT file I was not aware that those were needed.

Hahaha that’s funny because when I was first explaining the limitations with those animations I was about to say that it shouldn’t stick out at all unless you want to convert Jordan. If you do really want that Jordan converted you should be able to shrink his tongue and hide it since his mouth won’t open anyway

For my troubleshooting, what should the converted .SCNE/.model look like in blender? I just want to know where along the process i'm actually running into an issue.

Right now if I try to view my converted CF/PNG in the game, it just hangs.

It worked all the afternoon...why I'm getting this now in blender?
What I miss? It worked for hours and now I'm getting this problem :-(

EDIT:In game only converted players show up...but in Blender it shows both.....


I want to share this...since we need a 2k20 base I strongly suggest to use a "Dynamic" base...not every png are like png2061 where you can adjust thin/thick in appareance.RDAT file and you see meshes adapt directly:

...example is for legs but you can do it also for arms or body.....

You can use another png....but if not dynamic maybe you hace to use Blender to refine the mesh....while with dynamic you get a better rersult IMHO.
