Please note...we can go forward 2k17->2k20 and backward 2k20->2k17
2K18, 2K19, and 2K20 have the same UV layout for face textures so the face.iffs are interchangeable.


part 3 of tutorial is rendering
It will be very helpful for those learning about adding a .model file back into a png.iff file.
It will show you how to rename your .model file and also insert the new name into hihead.scne.
It will also show you how to clean up the hihead.scne file for your newly created model (so that the game does not change the model when camera zooms out).
I will edit the appearance_info.RDAT file to display correct skin tone
Finally I will put the original face.iff (from old game) and the newly edited png.iff into waigua folder and open it in NBA 2K20

I will try to get all of the converted faces with links in the first post.
Someone try adding hair from an older 2K if you can, you shouldn't need to convert it with this method. I will give it a try myself and make a tutorial if necessary.

If the creator has specified that their work is free to share and use then feel free to post the link. Give credit to original creators . This helps keep the community positive and vibrant. These are also part of NLSC policies for sharing community created mods.

I believe all of R4zor's prior works are also now open source considering he works for 2K now and can now longer take part in creating mods since he is officially making faces at 2K! Thanks for this...having problems with model showing up in blender (not visible in my folder to select)..i believe all add-ons enables. Blender 2.8.2 is version i have. Any thoughts to problem?

(Before reading the below, make sure you know how to open cyberfaces with blender 2.82 and have that appropriate plugin which I did not link in the videos)

Great to see you attempting this. If you have an issue you try retracing your steps as you may be able to resolve the issue yourself. If you can't figure it from there, then post screenshots or a video detailing what you are trying to do and describe the issues you are having so the community and I can better assist you.

Based on your message, I have no idea how to fix your issue because I do not understand what your actual issue is. Adding a visual reference like screenshots or link to a video would help immensely.

I suggest learning how to open a cyberface in Blender 2.82 prior to attempting any conversion. It can get confusing. I'm experienced with cyber faces and I still got very confused in this process and had to start from scratch several times. Trial and error is just part of the process but I have a good feeling you will get this figured out, even if we have to help you out a little.

Thanks for the reply TS. I have the .97 script add on from trevor and the newest version of blender as well as the mesh converter. I was following your video and made a folder with a 2k18 face and png file in it. i removed the three files that you did in the video, copied the folder location, pasted in blender and the folder showed empty. no model file was in it. Next time i try i will try screenshots if i incur a problem

How do we get the 2k importer and exporter addons in the new blender? I can't seem to figure out why they aren't showing up in version 2.82. I downloaded the mesh addon and everything but am having issues with the regular 2k addons.

Well, trying to convert that Grimes I wanted so bad for all these past months, followed tutorial and everything went fine until messing with files inside pngxxxx/iff achieve. 2K19 MonkeyMan's Grimes has some hair files which causes me trouble figuring it out... Any help please?

I tried to convert R4zor's Mookie Blaylock from 2k19. The eyes came out a bit funky, is there a way to adjust this during the process?

My issue is I think the eyes are two far apart along the x-axis. I moved them up on the Y and X so that it was perfect for the right eye, but then the left eye was bulging out

I would say, move the head instead. Eyes could glitch if you take them out of their position. If you move the head with snake hook brush, the face would not lose his likeness.
1) Mask everything besides the head, then move the head around, until it fits the eyes and mouth of the player (both would glitch if you overmove them)
2) Mask the head, mouth and eyes only and move the eyelashes, caruncle.
3) Once you have this done, select the eyes vertex group and separate them from the rest (G,X,10 key command), with the B button border select one eye, then you move it back to the head (G,X,-10 key command) - After that, you fix his position:
a) G,X and mouse movement to fix his position and
b) R,X or R,Z to rotate it in the right way.
c) Repeat with the other eye.
4) heandband, you can select it in vertex groups and the easiest way is to scale it with S,X (Sides) or S,Y (Front, Back) and move it too, if necessary with the G key commands.
5) To join the now loose headshape with the 2K20 body, go to edit mode, activate the magnet below, press the button, when it's red, it's activated and on its right, there's another button (Snap Element), then you select "vertex". Then you have to take one vertex and join it to the 2K20 body, one by one, I don't know other way.

This was a true pain in the A$$

The problem with this one was that not only were his eyes way too low, but they were pointing in opposite directions, and the eyecap/eyelashes and carbuncles were all messed up.

Did the best I possibly could, this actually took me about 2 hours to fix. For those doing these types of conversions where the eyes are not right... hide the eyelashes, turn x symmetry off, move the eyes out of the head, and move the eyeball from where it currently is to where you want it to be. This is far from easy to do.

Also, I gave Mookie a body edit and also fixed hes nose/mouth depth. He didn't look human really from the side, so I brought them in so they look reasonably realistic.
