Even after all these years, there's no way to dismiss or snooze it temporarily, perhaps until you're finished the current game. It's admittedly not game-breaking, though it does cover up any overlays that appear at the bottom left of the screen, as well as certain displays and menu options in the frontend. It's generally annoying if you're trying to capture a good screenshot or video (particularly if you are a content creator and want "clean" media). I certainly understand the need to inform users that an update has come through and to return to the main menu as soon as possible, but it's really something that we should be able to dismiss/snooze, or only see when we're finished with a game.
I saw someone post about it on Reddit the other day, and of course there was the usual dismissal of it as whining: "Don't you want updates? Aren't they a good thing?" (yes, but not the point), "It doesn't cover anything up/It doesn't spoil anything" (which I would say is demonstrably false), "It takes no effort to go back to the main menu" (true, but it's not always great timing and sometimes time is at a premium), and "It's not a big deal" (certainly not the biggest problem, but something people have mentioned for a few games now, and it can be annoying). It's not surprising as there are people who will defend pretty much everything and try to paint valid criticisms as whining if they don't deem them important enough, and it's silly. It isn't the biggest issue with the game, but it's also a pretty easy fix to make it less annoying, and clearly people are annoyed by it.
If nothing else, it's a distraction when it shows up on what should otherwise be a cool screenshot or highlight clip, and occasionally gets in the way of various overlays and displays. It's one of those little things, those recurring pet peeves, that gets frustrating after a while.
