AMD Graphics Settings

Postby Dee4Three on Mon Sep 09, 2019 7:12 am

Hi all,

Figured I would make a thread for AMD users. I have an RX 480 graphics card, and a AMD FX 8150 8 core 3.6 ghz processor. I can run all the 2Ks on this gen maxed out. Here are my global settings:

In the games video settings I have:

1. AA at 8 with AA quality at 0 (AA at 4 look great as well)
2. Frame rate at 60 (which is smooth)
3. Full screen mode
4. Vertical sync ON, dynamic vertical sync OFF
5. All other items on or maxed out

I play on a 50 inch HD TV that only allows up to 60 fps on games, which is perfectly fine for me. The gameplay is smooth as hell the way I have it.

Here is an example of smooth gameplay with those settings. This is using ACTION! Video game recorder. This video the AA is actually only set to 4, but it's still crisp and clean

Let me know if you have any questions or run into any issues. I can run 2K20 maxed out with no stuttering during cutscenes or regular gameplay.

Thanks!

I never touch settings in the panel of AMD, are there any FPS to benefit?

It seems that they have added TAA aliasing this year. This is a good thing because my GPU was suffering before.

Also if you have a great GPU, you can add the SSAA as aliasing instead of MSAA who is much better, sometimes the option is not available in the game but it's hidden in the folder "Roaming".
C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\2K Sports\NBA 2K20 and open "VideoSettings.cfg"

For me i have a R9 380 and i play like this :

1680x1050
FullScreen
AA (MSAA) 2
Quality AA 4
60 hZ
TAA Yes
SyncV Yes
SyncV Dyn. No
Everything else in High

And I have 60 fps constant.

The settings you see on the control panel are basically the default settings. I just wanted to show it for reference.

I think this thread would be a good place for people to show what settings in general work for them (in game and in AMD control panel). We could all help eachother out that way.

But if you look at my channel, my gameplay looks incredibly smooth in play and during cutscenes with the AA at 4 or 8, so I think that should help the people who feel that they have to max out the AA (like at 16) in order to achieve a great look.

My CPU isnt top of the line. Neither is my card. But, this setup does everything I need it to do. Like I can run Fallout 4, Batman Arkham Nights, Witcher 3, etc etc maxed out and its smooth as hell.

After taking the advice of everyone earlier and doing some research on RX 580 I found that it’s common for them to stutter on games because of FPS jumps and drops—my PC was literally running anywhere from 60 to 175, stuttering when having big drops. So I took everyone’s advice and went through Global Settings to set my maximum FPS to 60. No more stuttering and the game looks amazing! Thanks everyone for the help.
