Lag in MyLeague Games

Postby iuguernsey on Mon Sep 09, 2019 5:37 am

I have a pc that meets requirements and has ran all other 2k games on Ultra.

However, I am struggling quite frequently with lags in game, especially in transition points of the game. Is this a widespread problem or something I need to adjust?

I have tried high settings just in case it was my computer, to no prevail. Everything else looks great aside from these occasional times in transition or during certain animations. It's just an annoying problem.

I'm guessing this is more of the input lag that has been mentioned in previous posts. Where it is more frequent or noticeable in transition because of quick passing and layup animations.

Can you clarify "lag"?

Do you mean input lag when you hit a button and it happens on screen? Not being able to accelerate or the speed breaking?

Or the game stuttering? I can run it maxed out this year as usual and have no stuttering issues during cutscenes or in normal gameplay. I have an AMD card though, do you have Nvidia?

I remember a couple games from the past on this gen not running well on certain Nvidia cards.

More on the stuttering side.

AMD RX 580 is what I have. I've never had problems before, so it is really throwing me off. I went back to 2k18 to test and haven't had any issues.

Strange. I have the RX 480, no issues

Try closing other open applications or programs running in the background, and make sure the dynamic vertical sync is turned off (and regular vertical sync is turned on).

If that doesnt work, put AA at 4 with the AA quality at 0. I have mine at 8, but I play on a 50 inch screen and even with AA at 4 I dont notice an issue with quality (no jagged edges, etc).

Check out the recent 2K19 video I uploaded to my channel, that's actually with AA at 4 and AA quality at 0. Look how crisp and clean it is.

Let me know if any of this works.

No problem

Also note: If the above fixes dont work try the below

1. Make sure in your AMD control panel, that your AA etc is set to "use application settings", or whatever is the default. And make sure OPENGL triple buffering is also off

2. Make sure you are running the game in FULL SCREEN mode, as opposed to windowed or full screen windowed.

Good luck.

These are my AMD Control Panel settings. These work perfect for me with any game. These are the "global" settings.

I'd also say following:

Disable VSync and limit framerate to your preferred value (let's say 60) manually. nVidia can do it via nVidia Inspector, I'm sure AMD has it too.
VSync adds input lag.

Pre-rendering frames can be minimized - it should lower input lag, but it can also make frame drops more noticeable.

Turning off vsync for me causes screen tearing, which is why I keep it on. But he can try it.

Limiting the frame rate (say to 60)in the control panel has no impact on me, but again he could give that a try.

Either way, he has a lot of things he could try!

Yeah, that's why limiting frames can be important - the screen tearing. Then again, you can always revert after trying.

Honestly one of the reasons I switched to Xbox with NBA is to have some sort of guarantee (and little to no cheaters).

Makes sense. I just love the mods and overall feel on PC.

Hard for me to go back to console.

The 2K physics engine is linked to the fps so make sure you are not going over 60 fps. My game stutters a lot more if I get 100+ fps compared to locking it to 60. Even if you have a 144hz monitor, make sure the vsync is set to 60hz not 144.
