Last year Mike Wang shared quite a bit of info on Twitter over the course of preview season and there's already first piece of information although from another source.

In #NBA2K20 The Attribute System will be similar to NBA 2K17, to where instead of 2K19 the game chooses what you upgrade, you can choose what you use your attribute upgrades on, rather then the game choosing for you. You will still have attribute caps depending on your archetype.

Potentially good news there. I did like NBA 2K17's approach to attribute upgrades a little better, while NBA 2K19 nailed it as far as Badge progression is concerned. Of course, at this point I'm ready to put MyCAREER aside and go back to franchise gaming as I'm wearing of the annual grind, but it's a good move for the mode if that's the case.
