sticky-fingers wrote:If you want a real new and better experience, buy a G-Sync Monitor (cf https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_G-Sync )
Why ? because you could disable vsync and play at > 100Hz, when frame rate drop (till 40) you dont feel it etc...
Gsync monitors are pretty expensive. I got my Dell S2417DG for about 430€.
I never regretted my purchase. On NBA2K, but also on others games.
BTW I dont think you need 4K Monitor because of your average GPU.
sticky-fingers wrote:Sorry Dee, you dont feel it, but "i have no input lag" is wrong statement
unless you play with vsync off what i doubt because - without gsync or freesync monitor - it's impossible to turn vsync off without tearing https://www.blurbusters.com/gsync/preview/
You can read more about input lag and gsync following these links :

sticky-fingers wrote:Its not about TV or Monitor, but about vsync on (TV or normal monitor) VS gsync on.
You have no difference when you play with your brothers, because you play with normal screen with vsync ON on all those screens.
If you're curious, i suggest you to try to play your games with vsync off (and try to ignore tearing, its hard but for the test).
You will feel our (gsync users) reduced input lag and feel your games differently.

sticky-fingers wrote:IMO it's a big deal and a game changer, specially on this part of the request :rickberge wrote:I only play 2k and for some reason, the game feels sluggish and herky-jerky at times.
If you have a decent PC configuration with a 2/3 years graphics cards, i always suggest you a monitor with Gsync (for nvidia users), now i have about 2 years of hindsight and experience with mine.
rickberge wrote:Also, does the PC monitor size matter in regard to input and performance? If I go the PC route I was looking at 40" or bigger.
sticky-fingers wrote:Dee, again : you dont feel any input lag, but you have twice input lag than me. Even when you're at constant 60FPS with vsync on, your frame rate isnt at 60fps all the time (use a real tool to measure that, you have variations, even minor variations).
Definitly, you simply cant compare Vsync ON with any excellent TV/Monitor vs Gsync/Free sync ON monitor. Sorry, but you just cant compare your experience (playing with vsync on at 1080p, 60hz, 60fps) and mine (playing at 1440p, 144hz, 80~120 fps).
You're like someone with poor eyesight with no glasses that think he has good sight. Then the day he put glasses, he discovers the world with more details and precisions.rickberge wrote:Also, does the PC monitor size matter in regard to input and performance? Size has no impact. But resolution has a huge impact.
With your graphic card, you should play at 1080p (full hd) resolution to stay at 60fps. So if you want a big screen > 32", take a TV because the final result will be better in term of image quality.
But for a better flow and game feeling with no stuttering, trust me : buy a Gsync Monitor ! and turn off vsync

10 ms for a TV is quite good. I actually might buy that tv. How is the HDR on the TV, dee?
considering that we don't have the hardware (gpu/cpu) for 4k 60fps.... Unless you go crazy expensive, and then ray tracing is coming to push fps back down .... and the mointor implementation of HDR is horrible. (been waiting for an HDR monitor, but the implementation are sooo bad across all manufactures right now). I've been looking to get a good 4k TV (30 fps) for gaming, just for the proper HDR implementation.
anyways, that's actually a pretty good TV. Will have to read up more about that TV.
But yeah, both a good TV or a good monitor are good options. I got an AOC 1080p monitor from, like 15 years ago![]()

Its solid, it talks about it a hit here as far as HDR10 and HDR goes.

You know when players are at the line and they have the cutscenes that are really close? Players are literally popping out of the screen.
When putting it on game mode, it will look a bit dark. But all you have to do is up the backlight brightness and the picture look superb. I put it on game mode and just up the backlight, and I dont notice any lag whatsoever.
And thats really the point I've been trying to make the whole time. If he wants a big setup, that gives him great gameplay and looks awesome, he doesnt have to break the bank. He can get a TV like that one, spend under $400 and be good to go.
If you decide to buy the TV Bongo, let me know. I will send you my settings.
rickberge wrote:Hey community,
I'm just curious on how much a good PC monitor factors into the overall experience (input lag, graphics, smoothness,etc..) with NBA 2k20 or 2k19.
Right now I'm just playing on a regular 35in HD TV monitor that's a lil outdated. The specs for my current PC is:
CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Xtreme GXi10180A Desktop Gaming PC (Intel i7-7700 3.6GHz, NVIDIA GTX 1060 3GB, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB 7200RPM HDD, Win 10 Home
I've been researching the difference between a good PC gaming monitor and TV and it seems like the PC monitors give the overall better experience. For those that have a good PC monitor, what specs do you recommend? Price is not really a factor but not anything over 1k. I was looking at the ViewSonic VX4380-4K which has 10-bit SuperClear IPS panel and 3840x2160 resolution and a refresh rate of 60hertz.
Just let me know if there are any other specifics to look for in a monitor. I only play 2k and for some reason, the game feels sluggish and herky-jerky at times.. thinking a new monitor will do the trick but maybe not.
Thanks

But I noticed bongo stated that my bottlekneck was my 1060 3GB as opposed to the 1060 6GB...as I'm still learning with the PC gaming, in order for me to get the ultimate experience I basically need a more powerful graphics card.
Even when I played on my newer model TV (not sure about the specs, pretty sure it's not good as Dee's TV) it still felt a lil clunky. And not responsive as I like...it may just be 2k20 cause I noticed people saying things about the movement.
I noticed the input lagged more on the defensive end. If I'm playing the pick and roll and I try to switch to the man to pick up the roll man, it seems like I'm a step slower. That was one of the reason why I wanted to research a new monitor/TV.

Not all tvs are created equal, just like all monitors are not. Just because the TV in the den is newer doesnt mean it has low input lag.
And yeah, 2K20 is a lot like Live 19 in the way that it has lag and feels sluggish by default in many ways. If I go back and play NBA 2K17, 2K14, 2K11, 2K9 etc, the games are more reactive and are not as sluggish as 2K20. So you could be experiencing some of what the game actually has. The game has poor foot planting, and is heavy in animations.
Any other games you can try to compare?like older 2Ks?
