What is wrong with the basketball?

I can't be the only one who thinks the ball feels more like it is plastic, not rubber with air inside. The way it rattles on the rim is puzzling to say the least. Did anyone release a mod that fixes this?

I know Michael Lutz has experimented with net physics but I’m not sure about the ball. Might be worth looking into his thread.
