OVR Rewards (up to 85 in detail)

From Smoove's video so these are legit.

  • 65 OVR
    • Hair dyes
    • Pro level dribbling, shooting, dunking and flashy pass animations available
    • MyTeam token
    • MyCourt custom balls available
  • 70 OVR
    • Expressive badge (celebrations)
    • Elite level dribbling, shooting, dunking and flashy pass animations available
    • Customized NBA jersey available for MyPlayer (with your name)
    • MyCourt custom hoops available
  • 75 OVR
    • Mitchell & Ness gear available
    • Jumpshot creator unlocked
    • MyTeam: 1x base league pack and 1000 MT point
    • Signature emote animations - tier 1
    • Signature movement animations - tier 1
    • MyCourt custom scoreboards
  • 80 OVR
    • New Era gear unlocked
    • Signature pre-game rituals - tier 1
    • Signature emote animations - tier 2
    • Ability to select jerseys in NBA games in MyCareer
    • Footballs unlocked (what?)
    • MyCourt custom floors
  • 85 OVR
    • Custom jewelry
    • Signature celebration animations - tier 1
    • MyTeam: 1x base league pack and 1000 MT point
    • Signature movement animations - tier 2
    • Ability to customize arena sounds and intro music
    • MyCourt NBA murals
    • Skateboards unlocked

Now these are only based on what people got from the upgrade menu overview, not from getting the OVR itself:

  • OVR 90
    • MyTeam reward
    • Signature emote animations - tier 3
    • Ability to edit team set plays, roster and potentially more
  • OVR 91
    • MyCourt - Blacktop Arcade machine
    • New vehicles
    • Signature pre-game rituals - tier 2
  • OVR 92
    • Gym Rat Badge - extra turbo energy at 100% from now on (no need to go to the gym)
    • "Ever wanted to let the world know what you think?"
    • Personal Beats machine
  • OVR 93
    • Signature celebration animations - tier 2
    • Invitation to 2K VIP club
    • New vehicles (looks like BMX)
  • OVR 94
    • On Court Coach badge
    • Takeover now activates for secondary too
  • OVR 95
    • Head start on next MyPlayer
    • Signature emote animations - tier 4
    • Two daily wheel spins
  • OVR 96
    • Double VC from games
    • New vehicles
  • OVR 97
    • Hoverboard
  • OVR 98
    • Be featured on 2KTV "for the whole world to see"
    • Mascot gear
  • OVR 99
    • Legend badge - all badges raised beyond normal capacity
    • 2K20 wall of grind mention (I had to, sorry)
    • Custom 2K Shoes and copy of NBA 2K20 (limited supply)

Overall it seems some stuff was dropped, some might have been locked higher (MyCourt stuff?)...
The Head Start for next MyPlayer is intriguing and a big question mark. 95 OVR is still gonna be a big grind anyway.
The free copies of 2K20 is a good marketing move that will ensure that 2K youtubers and streamers will play the game for a month straight.

Similar to last year, except they've spread the MyCOURT customisation out over a few levels, rather than unlocking it all at once. I don't care for that, but if the grind isn't as bad, then maybe it's a fair trade-off. Not totally sold on that, though.

Depends really on how bad the grind will be. So far it looks like it will be possible to get up to 1000 VC per NBA game from bonus objectives plus difficulty modifier is back. In theory good players could, emphasis on could, get rewarded by quite a few VCs.
Another thing that is yet to be seen is how much players will be able to get from sponsorship deals.

My impressions so far are that they probably learned a lesson from last year and decided to go more standard route for online games - make early game content available fast(-ish) and make the end-game content to be grind.

After all locking majority of your paid content behind hard to reach levels (in this case OVR 90+) would be just bad business as you want people to spend money on the VC to buy said content. However players have to play games to progress above 85 OVR, so that's why it looks like most cosmetics except for some "high end" ones are unlocked for everyone who is 85 OVR, regardless of games played.

I hope so. I feel like they're acting a bit too innocent about last year's approach and various media outlets are letting them off the hook somewhat. However, if they are doing the right thing by gamers following the backlash, even considering it didn't cost them in sales, revenue, or play time, then credit where it's due to for making the experience better. As always it remains to be seen, but it sounds like they may have taken that feedback to heart. Again, here's hoping.
