Towels for bench players are a cool addition. Things like that are easy and make the game look way better.

Hard to judge with such a bad gameplay from the player :/

Kawhi Leonard face with a beard confirmeeeeed. Are 2K creeping this forum?
And that crowd lighting is awesome. That is a real improvement.

Here's some footage I got to record before they told me to stop haha

phpBB [video]

Misc things I noted after playing a quarter:
-Balls feels a little more live. Had an instance where I threw an oop to Whiteside and Valanciunas seemed to hit the ball out with his head.
-dribble moves feel slower and it looks like spamming crossovers won't do much for the player.
-Ernie Johnson has a new face scan (lol)
-Changes to the player introductions w/a spotlight on the players now with ending pyro.
-On-the-fly substitutions menu has moved to the buttons.
-Lighting kind of reminds me of 2K14 mixed with 2K17. Looks better imo

Glad to here on the fly substitutions moved to the buttons.

I renamed the thread "Pre-Release Gameplay Footage". That way, we can just use this thread when new footage is released.

I was watching the defensive rotations on that second video, but it's tough to see if the defense has improved because the guys playing don't know what they are doing. They are just running around.

You said the dribbling feels slower, but look at the second video posted on this thread (Harden dribbling). Looks exactly the same as NBA 2K17 (Speed and look). Which, I don't mind.

Center speed seems to be too fast, again (and again)...

Loot @ 0:50 Capella runs as fast as CP3...

Ah, true. What I experienced isn't fresh on my mind haha. I think I mean size up dribbles feel slower. Never got to really focus on much since I had someone playing with me. The game did feel good to play, though.

No worries. That's good to hear that it felt good to play.

Anybody else notice that they are showing stats now at the free throw line? Small thing, but I always wanted that back in the game. Adds to the realism.

Yeah, yeah. Release day game play is normally fine. Let's see how it plays 2 or 3 patches down the road.

What I've noticed in all of these videos, no single action shot/portrait was updated. I hope that's because this is some late beta version of the game and the game didn't go Gold yet. If they stick to the same pictures, 2K are officially lazier than a bag of chips and they should be ashamed.
The fact that they haven't changed a single pixel in the scoreboard is one thing. The moment you don't change the players pictures, I reckon most users will feel like the game is a slightly updated version of 2K17. The basic "Bruh that is 2K17.5 smh, Live winning it this year" comments will double their number - and their number is worse than in previous years from what I've noticed. Just an objective observation.

The absolutely brilliant thing about making and releasing a sports video game franchise year after year is that all a company needs to do really is update the rosters, slap a $40-60 price tag on it, and call it a day. There are MANY gullible people out there that will continue to pay full price for what amounts to roster work and both EA and 2K know this. The terms for those types of people are 'marks' or 'whales'. They're the same people who probably make very good use of microtransactions and DLC/skin purchases in other games.

I suppose it remains to be seen, but portraits and action shots do tend to be details that can wait until the last minute.

I'd assume they're waiting for the league to provide photos with the new jerseys.

You know, the ones that haven't seen a single game yet.
