I have spent many hours ensuring most of real prospects have the correct bio information ages and colleges/ countries listed in their bio as well as trying to get decent career peaks for players.
Very ImportantYou should not draft players based on the overall ratings alone. You should also check out the prospects potential ratings as well as the years they will be in their prime.
Also note that I am open to feedback from those who supply insight after checking out this draft class.
Breaking down the Draft.
Of course we have the ability to look back and see who were the busts and breakouts of this draft.
It is easy to pick guys who are sure fire Hall of Famers or even the borderline HOF players.
This draft does not have many of that caliber so it can get interesting if you are picking outside of the top 3.The RundownThis draft included some foreign players, one of whom would become an NBA legend.
Also there is an undrafted prospect who went on to become a perennial champion over seas and later played in the NBA as a 30 year old rookie.
We can't forget about the High School Prep to Pro prospects.
There are several with varying degrees of upside.
Let's break this draft down a bit!
Cream of the cropWe all know who standouts of this draft were. I can sum it up in 4 words
Dirk. Vince. The Truth.
These 3 guys are still playing in the league 19 years after being drafted. Nuff said.
But I will not tell you how to draft for your team. Here is my breakdown for these guys.
Vince CarterVince Carter has lasted a long time in the league. Playing alongside his cousin T-Mac he garnered noteriety and populartity
amongst fans and peers almost immediately. He wowed the masses his aerial acrobatics when taking flight for dunks.
Out of the 3 players ( Dirk, VC, and Pierce),
Vince is likely to reach his potential the fastest if you draft him.If you want an elite SG within the next 3 years, Vince is your guy.
Oh and he arguably the best dunker of all time!!!Paul PierceThis man was definitely a top 3 talent at the time he was drafted, he fell all the way to the 10th pick to the historic Celtics franchise.
Do I really need to sum up this man's play? ... Pierce is simply...
The Truth. This man earned his nickname from shaq after almost
helping the Celtics defeat their all-time rivals, The Lakers, on March 13, 2001. This was no small task as the Lakers were the reigning world Champions and
had a prime Shaq, and full throttle Kobe to lead their team.
The Lakers went on to win by 5 but Paul Pierce had made his mark to the tune of 42 points... against the defending Champs.
The Truth did not stop there the next season he helped lead the Celtics to their 1st playoff berth in 7 years and even dropped 46 pts in a half (+overtime) against the Nets in that season.
