Thinking about quitting

Mon Oct 17, 2016 4:46 pm

Really disappointed about this game this year. Between the constant grinding for VC and upgrades since day 1. Between the constant amount of hackers in mypark taking the low road and hacking to be 99 in every category. Between the impossibly good defense played by the cpu on pro, all star, and hof levels. Between constantly bricking wide wide open jumpers despite maxing out my PG's shooting ability (76 midrange on pull up and midrange shots). Between the boring grind of unlocking caps by jumping against some stupid vertical bar. Between the tedious storylines and the useless interactions with other nba players. I can takes no more.

Bottom line: I don't play video games to be mediocre. I get that in real life. I play video games to be a superstar. One man who dominates the league or saves the world. Other 2k's in the past, at this point (rated 87 overall), I was able to dominate at all-star level. Drop 100 ppg, 70% fg's, averaging triple doubles for a season. This year, my season averages are 7 ppg, 30% fg, 50% ft. I am being humped by the cpu defense as soon as I cross half court. No amount of picks or dribbles can free me. I can fancy dribble my way past the D once out of every 15 possessions. I just want to hit a damned wide open 15 footer at this point. In MyPark, people pass to me and i'm wide open from 15. Last year, I was nailing those 99%. This year, I'm shooting 30% and it's freaking embarassing. I"m useless on offense. Team me up against a hacker who's 99 and raining 3's and i'm ready to put a brick through my screen.

Rant over. I think I am seriously going to re-consider how I've been spending all my free time every night since Sept.

i have plenty of gripes with this game and it's legacy issues. it's easily the most frustrating, hair pulling series i've ever emotionally invested myself in. you should have seen some of my posts at os tripping out over nba2k16.

this year's game isn't quite as frustrating, but it's definitely bugged and messy as all hell. it without a doubt qualifies to me as a game in it's early access stage without proper testing. despite all of this, i keep coming back to it and the game def has it's moments - esp this year's installment. there's so many little things that 2k did right this year that gears towards the sim direction. the great mods that folks create here help heaps as well.

let's just hope for the best with the upcoming patches.

Short of quitting, I may definitely play a lot less than I did last year.

Hey geniuses, here's one way you can curb the rampant hacking online - why not remove all the caps for all the legitimate players out there? At least we'll eventually get to 99 for every category and we can compete against the hackers out there. Maybe drive them off the game when they realize that they suck and the only reason they've been winning is because they're rated head and shoulders above everyone else.

I took a 1 week break from mypark. Primarily to grind and also because my real life job was overwhelming me.

I currently have a 70-25 win record. Yesterday, I went back. And for the first two games, both squads were filled with hackers. Not just one per team, as usual, but 3 each! Two massive centers doing crossovers and breaking my PG's ankles, raining fadeaway 3's. With a good squad, we went 0-4. I couldn't believe how rampant cheating has gotten. Looking at these players' bio cards, their rated speed was supposed to be 41. I'm 93 as a legit Playmaking PG. And these dudes were outrunning me down the court. Just not right.

We finally settled in for the rest of the night and won 8 of the next 9 against non-cheaters (or maybe less obvious cheaters).

This is the love-hate relationship I have with this game. The first 4 made me want to quit. And the next 8 pulled me back in, especially because a lot of them were nail biters that we pulled off because of contributions from everyone on my squad.

You can put up those same numbers if you go back to playing rookie level.
