Sorry, but how am I supposed to take you seriously when you start with an ad hominem attack?
Bottom line is that if it was working only in single player game, it would be fine with most. Since it results in cheaters coming online and ruining the game for players that play fair, some people will be vocal about it.
As another thing to consider, by doing this you're breaking EULA/ToS and can be for example banned from online services.
Well it's not our fault that 2k feels the need to link up a single player mode that could be played completely offline with no problems to anyone with online components. None of us asked for it. None of us asked for MyPark or the Career to be linked up to a multiplayer experience or something like ProAM so it's a bit silly to say: well yeah but if you cheat others can abuse that system for online play. Yes they can. But that is not our concern because it's 2k's business model to basically imply that you need to buy VC by locking everything up behind paywalls and online modes. Why do I need VC or indeed can earn VC in MyGM? What's the deal with that?
As I have explained above 2k does not ban you for cheating but for glitching VC thereby robbing them of a very profitable stream of revenue. It's the same reason why you are not allowed to carry over your VC from previous games. Maybe ask yourself why that is. Maybe also ask yourself why, instead of giving you 40.000 VC for MyCareer, you get 5.000 as a pre-order bonus with the rest going to last years edition. Btw. how is it "fair" play when others can simply waste 100 Euro or more to buy themselves VC and "git gud" while others have to grind for it even though both paid 50 Bucks for the game? Why are those people allowed to relish in the game from the first minute because they have more VC than they know what to do with?
The same goes for other issues. 2k threatened CE forums with a lawsuit last year to have them remove any mention of a cheat engine table for 2k16. They did the same with a reddit thread I moderated with well over 600 responses which was opened in a part of reddit explicitly reserved for cheating and even online hacking. Reddit closed the thread and deleted it. The cheaters they banned were people who either glitched VC (I'll explain in a bit) or unwittingly took advantage of the day one bug which allowed you to get VC for free.
It's was fairly easy to glitch VC last year. You could simply use CE to give yourself 2.000 points, rebounds, assists and what not and thereby gain 5.000-20.000 VC per game. You could also manipulate the "contract" you signed and up it to nearly 2.000 VC per game just for playing. So 2k hooked up there servers and checked for transaction records. If those records showed game gains that were simply impossible you would be banned without a warning. You would be banned completely. Not only would you no longer be able to play online but you would be prohibited from receiving patches or roster updates or indeed download community rosters. One of the oversights of 2k was that on the first day 50.000 and 100.000 VC could be bought for free. No one knows why it happened and it was closed the day after. Many and more people reported it to the support. All of them received thanks and were assured they would face no repercussions and indeed could keep the VC free of charge as it was a bug on 2k's end. Now those people were banned along with glitchters because obviously their records showed 50.000 or 100.000 VC received for nothing. I was one such. When you contacted 2k not only were you informed that you had been banned for VC glitching but also that they would no provide any records to prove their accusation. They would not tell you for example: on this and this day you received this many VC for a game or for nothing in return which is plainly a glitch. Either way many people banned for nothing submitted their 2k tickets from when they reported the bug. 2k support then thanked them and told them that even though they were innocent it is 2k's policy to not review or revoke bans and that all bans are for life and that you should not buy any future NBA 2k or possibly 2k Sports products as the ban would be carried over to every single game of theirs.
That is 2k's fight against the cheaters for you. The effect was that several 99 rated players and below were gone. Fair enough. However it did not eliminate players from going onto the park with 56 rated players but adjusted stats that took them to 99 in all categories (I believe those are the 7'6 point guards everybody is raving about) or giving themselves bunny mascots, cyber faces or playing with 8 foot tall players with arms the span of 3 anthony davises. It also did not prevent the most common use of CE, to set the price of the attribute upgrade to 0 and to manipulate how many attribute upgrades you could have. That still went on and the only way they caught players like that was through users checking their profile and finding that they had not earned the achievements to get that high up the ladder. It also did not prevent players from increasing their park reputation with CE. All that was done was to saveguard the income stream generated by VC as, even though PC users are such a small group, if a potential of 200.000 users of which maybe half buy VC in an amount of at least 50 Euro per nose (5.000.000 Euro for you) would be lost due to the widespread use of CE that would be a real hit to the gut financially.
None of us in here have claimed that we want to destroy you and your mates in the Park. Most of us just want to be the man in MyCareer and enjoy ourselves while playing this cheesy mode. We can't however and unluckily because of all that whining a lot of you honest guys, who might have gotten pissed of at VC over the next year or two and wanted an easy way out, will suffer in the long run because 2k has ironclad their stuff behind online servers this time. You can't reset the price of items or upgrades to 0 since the prices are saved server side. You can't change the number of upgrades because this is also server sided now. You can't edit the VC multiplier or your contract because, again this is server sided now and requires the game to compare your stuff to the stuff saved online. If it doesn't match it will be reset to what it says online. Well that's life so now we have to hope for someone to come along and find another loophole and be damn quiet about it too because all those honest guys will report it straight away, even if we would sign an agreement punishing us with death if we cheat on any of the online modes.
I wish you guys had never caught a sniff of CE and if you did would have had the sense to simply use common sense and check players before playing with them and austracised cheaters on MyPark and left the rest of us in peace instead of running to 2k screaming your heads off.
What's scary is: You state that 2K threatened CE forums with a lawsuit last year so they got shut down. However, we now have a Cheat Engine Forum on here with a TON of views (almost 3000 already) and comments, that 2k can easily view (and does). You realize that it jeopardizes the PC release of future 2k games correct? Why do you think we hardly have any sport titles for PC, because people pirate the games and just overall cheat in general. You call mycareer "cheesy" and insult it, while at the same time you spend the money to by the game and play the mode. You insult the developers of the game (2k), but you buy the game and want the cool things that are in the game.
I don't want us to lose the PC version of 2K, it's an amazing experience, and NBA 2K17 is a great game. The depth that we have in 2k is unmatched by any sports title.
I feel like this topic should be removed by the moderators, especially in light of the statement that 2K threatened a lawsuit on CE forums last year. Moderators, please review if you can (which im sure you already have).
Again, this is not an attack on anybody personally. I just don't want us to lose our ability to have a PC basketball title that we can mod and have a great time with.
