Thanks!
I don't know if people realize this, but this game is just as moddable as 2K17 through 2K20, we just didnt understand cheat engine enough when the game was in its regular yearly cycle.
It's a shame, I can literally do all the things I could do in Cheat Engine on this game, that I did on 2K17. We could legitimately have a UBR roster if enough modders came on board, with everything looking ridiculously accurate. We can change audio IDs, importing portraits and dornas, make and assign arenas and stadiums, edit jerseys, edit short lengths edit team names, etc etc etc. In reality, this game doesn't have any more limitations than 2K20 for modding...
The only draw back would be that we would have to have a separate roster file and separate modded folder for each season, but is that really that bad? It takes 30 seconds to replace your modded folder.
Player DNA can actually be done through CE, so while it's easier in 2K20, it can still be done on 2K16.
Again, just find it to be a shame that more modders have left other past games on this gen in the dust. Once 2K20 moves onto 2K21, it will be "on to the next one", as the large majority will move onto the new game, and toss nodding aside in favor of the new title, and the cycle continues.
Props to those who stick around and mod 2K14, 2K13, 2K11, and even older Live titles. You guys "get it". How does anybody think that big roster mods that are done completely and accurately (especially season by season) is going to be done in one calendar year? Or one calendar year with only a couple people working on it? Hawk has an ENTIRE TEAM of modders working with him, cyberface makers, court creators, arena makers, dornan makers, etc, If you think we are going to get a UBR type project completed in one calendar year with 2 or 3 people working on it, you are insane.
I'm glad I keep working on 2K16 and 2K17. Just wish more people saw the big picture with roster mods. I keep hearing people complain that no "UBR" exists for this gen, or they wish one did, but that will never happen if people keep just jumping onto the new game, and not forming teams big enough to do such a project.
