I only play NBA lIve. Or I should say, 2K13 currently. That's it.
I can feel my PS3 is going to die soon, and was wondering if PS4 was "worth it?'
Newer is always better, and I get that. Is that the case with basketball games? Is there that $200+ improvement on the PS4?
I don't mind getting another PS3. Use it for another 5-6-7-8 years and by then, the PS4 should be $199.
I never played the PS4, or seen it with a basketball game. Do we expect basketball simulation games to really take off, in the future? And where upgrading to a PS4 is the logical step?
TIA.

The future does seem very bright with the basketball games on PS4, at least in my opinion, but they do have their teething problems. In the long run, I'd say it's a good investment - I don't regret getting mine - but one thing to keep in mind is that the library is obviously nowhere as big as the PS3's yet and it's not backwards compatible. If you're only playing the one game though, I suppose that's not really an issue.

No backwards compatability means no PS4 for me. Not worth all that loot. I'm very conent with my PS3 & PS2.

I'm in the same position. My PS3 seems to be on it's last legs after many years of good service.
I can't really justify buying a PS4 at this point in time because I'm happy playing a few games on PS3. So I'll probably buy a new PS3 and use it for the next few years until the PS4 gets some games that interest me.

If money is not one of the things you're weighing in this decision, then I would recommend getting a PS4. You play mostly NBA, and next gen 2K is truly amazing compared to old gen in almost every aspect, especially graphics wise. I can only speak for myself, but I can't even look at the old 2k game anymore. I would say the system is a $200 improvement. I was on the playstation hype after I got my ps4 and decided to get a ps3, in short, I was very disappointed with the ps3 and returned it. Every aspect of the ps4 is better than the ps3 imo, and the games will come, but as you stated, you only really play one game.
If you're concerned with backwards compatibility, Playstation Now (i think that's the name) is coming soon, so there's that.
Remember, old gen is almost at year 10, way outdated. I've enjoyed my time on the PS4 very much.
