Gigabyte or MSI Mobo?

Tue Jul 23, 2013 10:58 am

Which is the more better brand? Gigabyte or MSI for motherboards? Is there any difference in quality? Are they basically the same? Personal Preference?

I'm considering these two for now:

MSI: http://www.microcenter.com/single_produ ... sku=614891

possibly this: http://www.microcenter.com/single_produ ... sku=614883

or

GIGABYTE: http://www.microcenter.com/single_produ ... sku=614941

possibly this: http://www.microcenter.com/single_produ ... sku=614909

I've heard Gigabyte has solid build quality. I will be over clocking.

Have gone with Gigabyte, I've grown to trust them. I've been an overclocker for quite a few years now, and neither my GB mobos nor my Thermaltake power supply (I've had it how many years now?) have failed me. Don't have much of an opinion on MSI. I've used their MoBos, but it's been so long that I don't remember what my experiences were like.

I too like Gigabyte motherboards.

My last two video cards have been from MSI though and they're fine as well.

Looking at those two they're basically the same except Gigabyte has only USB 3.0 instead of split 2.0/3.0 and it's ten bucks cheaper.

I figured they were about the same. I was leaning towards the Gigabyte ones.

I was gonna get a Gigabyte but I got an ASUS mobo instead, and even though they do have a pretty spotty record with their boards, I'm pretty happy with mine so far.

Gigabyte has served me well in the past, though like benji I've gone with MSI for a couple of my video cards.
