Real Racing 3 - Free To Play of the Future!

So yea, its out, and it is free to play

It is a damn good sim racing game, period. Looks great on my Nexus7, plays great, and I love that you are responsible for damage....and visual damage! Love the hud, I mean, game wise, its greatness.

The waiting stuff, is going to get annoying. You can skip it by getting your device offline and changing the system time, but aintnobdygottimeforthat. I didn't have a problem with waiting for the 5 minute oil change or the 5 minute tire change (damage repairs are instant, like windshield, bumper, etc, but they carry over race to race if you dont) but once I earned $35k the game is all like, dude, I heard you like Skylines, you can get one now. Heeeeeellls yeaaaaaaa. Purchase....then wait 10 minutes for shipping.....

...granted, I can use 2 of the 9 gold I've earned thus far (they start you with 20) and skip that, but naw, I'm just done with that play session.

For a mobile game, I think the F2P shit works. If you try to get all hardcore on it and expect GT on mobile....then go get the PS1 emulator.

Anyone else try it?

Tried this. It's fun.

The game looks good for a mobile game. It's no GT but it's a good sim racing game for mobile. Controls aren't bad, you have some options to choose from.

I have no trouble with the waiting stuff. It is a mobile game so you can do other stuff like listen to the Da Czar own some fags in a podcast while waiting.

I love the damage, prevents you from driving like a jackass. The damage isn't just visual, IT AFFECTS THE PERFORMANCE OF YOUR CAR!

Still early in the game so I haven't yet encountered the grinding/in-game purchases that most people seem to be complaining about this so they spend real cash just to get the upgrades/cars faster.
Maybe I'm already grinding early but I'm not noticing it because I enjoy doing the races even if it's more than once.
Maybe the people who complain about the grinding and the damage that cost credits to repair are just people who want instant gratification of having more credits so they can buy moar cars.

The most common gripe with this game that I read was that you need real $ just to get more cars but after playing it I saw that every car can be bought with game credits without the use of real $. Of course you have to 'grind' for it but the impression that it's a pay to win game just isn't true.
I can't believe I'm defending an EA game.

So in summary yes this game is a good time waster.

Though I don't agree with the thread title that this is the model for F2P of the Future! when a certain murder based hat simulator is doing it right on how F2P is supposed to be because you don't even have to grind and just idle to get items if you don't want to spend real $ for items that don't disrupt the balance of the game. BUT if this game is the model for F2P mobile games, I can live with that.

So yeah, hats > cars.

Recent update for this game is a clusterfuck.
Don't install update 1.2 officially known as the Prestige Update or called in the forums as the Bus Update.
People on the official FB page and forums are ranting about it to the point that the forums get new threads from newly signed up users just to complain. That horrible.

Every good thing posted by Jao and myself about this game no longer applies except for the graphics. They improved the graphics and added a bit more details to the cars. That's about it being the good thing, also the improved car handling.
The recent update made it so different that some people are calling it Real Racing 4, in a bad way.

Car parts damage individual of each other? Forget about that as the parts servicing and repairs have been all rolled into just one damage bar and all you need is to tap a single button. Goodbye 'sim' aspect.

Waiting times? Enjoy more of it because your car gets damaged more to the point you can only do 2 races in 30 minutes to an hour for the high-end cars.

So you like a particular car and have enough in-game currency or real money to buy it? Well you can't buy it with either because you have to unlock it for purchase by completing races with other cars that you are not particularly interested in.

So you already have the car you want and want to race race and race some more? Well you can't, you are required to upgrade the car first before you can even do some of its available races unlike before where you can race a non-upgraded car as long as you're winning in the top 3 in the previous races.

And a lot moar problems. It's like they took the bad aspects of the freemium model and patched it to their game

Sound logic. I'll keep it in mind next time we amend our rules.

Dang it. Getting forced to buy each and every vehicle to unlock is very sucky. And now I have to wait for 45 min to repair after 2 races. LoL

Not sure how long this is gonna keep me interested as more grinding is forseeable.
