Champions League groups

Postby Brave Sir Rubin on Fri Nov 22, 2002 1:26 pm

Group A
Barcelona
Leverkusen
Internazionale
Newcastle

one hell of a group...each team here has a great chance to win...

seriusly now ( :) ) i say that Barca wins this group even though i hope Newcastle do...

Group B
Roma
Ajax
Valencia
Arsenal

Pretty soft group compared to the others...it's between Arsenal Valencia and Roma here...even though i can't see any of them eing close to winnig the league...

Group C
Madrid
Milan
Dortmund
Lokomotiv

Nice group, yet Madrid will dominate :)

Group D
Juventus
Man. United
Deportivo
Basel

another tough group...basel are automaticly out...and ya'll can guess who i'm picking to win here :)

I think Valencia is the best Spanish side right now, so I see them winning the trophy. To bad their best players are injured right now.

i'd say that both madrid and barca are much better clubs than valencia

Fc Barcelona is not better than Valencia.Barcelona had good results in the Champions League but they played against teams of low level.I think that They will be in the next round because Newcastle and the actual Leverkusen don´t have enough level to be in the quarters of final of the Champions league.
Although Real Madrid has the best players of the competition, the names don´t make a team and if they don´t play like a team then they will need good luck to be in the next round.Of course if they will play like they only can play then we will win the Champions league again.
AC Milan and Arsenal are the best teams with Madrid,in my opinion.I don´t like a lot Manchester United.

the best group is group b ajax has been playing really well especially ibrahimovic(dont know how to spell his name) i say ajax will take group b. arsenal is struggling latly and roma is just roma. i think ajax and valencia will battle for top spot in group. real madrid is palying pretty bad with all of those good players. at the end i think AJAX WILL BE CHAMPIONS!!!! :D :D

I don´t think that Ajax is one of the best Europe teams at the moment. They play well at home but they aren´t the same team when they play away.Ajax or Valencia will be the second team of the group and Valencia is better than Ajax.
Since 1997 only teams from Spain,Germany or England won the championship.´To win the Champions league you need more than to play very well.

Manchester United will win it all. Too much firepower up front and too much Beckham. If they don't come through I think Madrid or Barcelona are sure to. It's hard to go past Madrid's attack.

Real Madrid was the best team last year and this year they have Ronaldo too.Player by player there is not a better team than Real Madrid.Manchester United didn´t have Ronaldo,Raul,Zidane,Figo and Roberto Carlos. At the moment they have the best attack of the world.
Beckam is not as important as the publicity that he has.He is not one of the best 5 players of the world(even he is not top10).Van Nistelrooy is most important to the team.

real madrid was the best team last year but this year even with ronaldo they arent getting wins the way i see it half of the players are too old on the team thats why milan with younger players will take the group i say real has no chance of winning this year. the champion crown will go to one of the italian teams. i want ajax to win but i dont thing it will happen.

They are playing very well the last games in the spanish league, like if they were the Harlem Globetrotters of the football.Zidane is playing the best football since he is in Madrid.
If they play as good when the Champios League restarts I think that they will win again

Inter have got this wrapped out without a problem. Even without Crespo, if Batitstuta's eligable he's good for a goal a game

well...two more days of games passed...

here are some thoughts...

tuesday

Braca 3 Inter 0 ..t.his was a nice game to see...i wanted Inter to win, but Barca dominated all along...the Saviola goal was beautiful though...

Leverkusen 1 Newcastle 3... didn't watch this game...although i'm very happy that Newcastle won...

Arsenal 1 Ajax 1....well this score is at least goot for valencia

Roma 0 Valencia 1....didn't like this game....the goal was the only good Valencia shot...and yet, it went in only becouse the bloody keeper was day-dreaming...

Wedenesday (today)

madrid 2-Dortmunt 1....didn't watch i, but yay for Madrid who avoided elimination...

Milan 1 Lokomotiv 0 ...didn't watch it, but defenatly good for madrid, putting them ontop of lokomotiv...

Basel 1-Deport 0...didn't watch it, but it defenatly helps Man U...since Basel aren't competition, whle Deport don't have any chance to catch them anymore...

Man U-Juventus....the Brown goal at the 4th minute was great...but then man u gave Juventus possesion of the ball the rest of the half...it was stressing to watch it...Juve were so close at times...the 2nd half was more calming, man u dominated, and Backham's pass for Rood's goal was beautiful...the last PAVEL Nedved goal was just a silly mistake by Ferdinand...plus the Ref sucked bad...didn't give Man U the penalty, the cunt GO MAN U!!!

standings
Group A
Barcelona 9
Internazionale 6
Newcastle 3
Leverkusen 0

Group B
Ajax 5
Arsenal 5
Valencia 5
Roma 0

Group C
Milan 9
Madrid 4
Dortmund 3
Lokomotiv 1

Group D
Man. United 9
Juventus 4
Basel 3
Deportivo 1

Man U, Milan, and Barca are practicaly qualified already...

Uff.I hope that Real can be in the next round. They are playing very good now,i think that the they are a team now but they lost some points in the past that can be very important now.
Although i am from Spain I hope to see Ajax in the next round too.I don´t like Valencia,well....It´s obvious because my favourite team is Real Madrid.

There will be a beautiful 1/4 finals with Manchester,Milan,Barcelona,Juventus and I hope Madrid,Arsenal,Ajax and I don´t mind who of Inter or Newcasttle.
I want to play against Manchester like in the season 99/00 but not in the final

well...here's a summery of the last two days of football...

Tues (march 11)

Barca 2 Leverkusen 0 -Barca with another win...nothing special

Inter 2 Newcastle 2 even though Inter dominated the 1st 10 minutes...Newcastle scored the 1st and 3rd goals...and in the 60th minute Inter made the 2-2 draw...These two teams are still fighting for qualification.

Ajax 1 Valencia 1/ Arsenal 1 Roma 1 everybody drew...this group is still open for everybody (even Roma) the most exiting group by far this stage...

Standings

Group A
Barcelona 13 (qualified)
Internazionale 8
Newcastle 7
Leverkusen 0

Group B
Ajax 7
Arsenal 7
Valencia 6
Roma 4

Wed (march 12)

Dortmund 3 Lokomotiv 0- I saw that game...wasn't that interesting Dortmunt Dominated, yet Madrid has to loose it's next game (against Lokomotiv) for Dortmund to qualify, and i doubt that that will happen...

Madrid 3 Milan 1 I saw that game too...a most win for Madrid, which got a little intresting after the Rivaldo goal...but Zidane managed to pass it to Gutti and seal the deal...not the most interesting game...

Juventus 3 Deportivo 2 Juventus scored in the 93rd minute and qualified to the last 8....very interesting...didn't see the game though...

Man U 1 Basel 1 Nothing important here...

Standings

Group C
Milan 12 (qualified)
Madrid 8
Dortmund 7
Lokomotiv 1

Group D
Man. United 13 (qualified)
Juventus 7 (qualified)
Deportivo 4
Basel 4

well...the only exitement left is the rivary of Dortmund & Madrid in group C...Innter and Newcastle, and group B...the rest is done...the next two game days should be bloody interesting...

your thoughts on who's gonna win...my guesses for qualifing are...

C Lokomotiv Madrid 18:30
C Milan Dortmund 18:30
D Basel Juventus 20:45
D Deportivo Man. United 20:45

A Leverkusen Internazionale 20:45
A Newcastle Barcelona 20:45
B Roma Ajax 20:45
B Valencia Arsenal 20:45

Group A:

Barca and Newcastle

Group B:

Arsenal and Ajax

Group C:

Milan and Madrid

Group D is already seatled...
