Sadly, the comments on Jon's video - particularly the recent one about the quality of the video - are par for the course on YouTube.

koberulz wrote:Interesting. Our IQ2 does that at times. 99% of the time it's fine, but then suddenly it's two full seconds between pressing the button and the box responding, and the TV Guide and Planner both start as blank screens before all the channels/recorded shows sequentially pop up. You can actually see them load individually, rather than flash up on the screen all at once. It's rather odd.

That'd be annoying, but at least it's a rare occurrence. Speaking of the IQ2, I was recently considering upgrading but it seems that satellite subscribers still don't get the FTA channels with the IQ2 and while the other features are obviously awesome, I feel I can do without them for now.

Dear LiveJournal

I wish one of our sports channel finally shows a Portland - Dallas game.

There is that. Would hate to have to replace the box a third time.

That's a pain. Any idea why that is? It seems odd.

and while the other features are obviously awesome, I feel I can do without them for now.

You won't feel that way after six months of using it. I really can't fathom how I survived without it. On the other hand, series link made it really easy to keep recording the wrestling long after it became unwatchable, leading to me being in rather a bad mood after submitting myself to it. If I'd had to use a VHS tape and a VCR to record it, or sit through the whole thing, I'd likely have given up on it sooner.

That's the one problem with the IQ. It's far too easy to record things, and end up with a full planner and no time to watch anything you've recorded (particularly recording HD NBA games with a couple hours extra on the end in case of OT/injury/any other delay, which takes up a fair chunk). Particularly now they've got the 'record me' button during commercials, and you don't even have to find things on the TV guide anymore.

I'm sure I'd get great use of those features, but I do think I can get by for the moment. I'm keeping it in mind though.

I'm not sure of the exact reason why satellite customers don't get the FTA channels, whether it's a technical limitation or a legal/licensing issue. I'm guessing the former since they've got an agreement in place for cable subscribers, but whatever the case may be it's disappointing.

Doubtless you can. Just be prepared, should you upgrade, for the eventual realisation that you couldn't survive a day without it. It'll happen.

You never know. Channel 9 was one of the last to be fully integrated (it showed the analog channel, and had no TV guide info. All FTA channels used to come through that way, but all but 9 were available digitally and with TV guide information years before 9 was), and before it was even digitally available through Foxtel Foxtel channels were running commercials for Channel 9 shows.

Yeah, I don't doubt that. That's kind of how I feel about smartphones after having one for a couple of months. :)

Hopefully satellite gets the FTA channels soon. It'd make things a lot easier for my viewing habits.

What? I thought they only show the Bulls-Pacers, Spurs-Memphis and Celtics-Knicks games. Then there is ESPN who only shows Heat games.

Taken a look at their website and today schedule wasn't even the Dallas-Portland series.

Used to have a Canon iP4300. I was mid-way through burning Kobe Bryan'ts streak of 9 straight games scoring 40 or more points to 9 different discs. Had this label:

Then the print head died. The new printer, a Canon MG5250, prints those discs like this:

Is there a printer setting or something I can screw with to get the starburst to look half-decent again?

Increase print quality? Halftoning?

It's at its highest at the moment. Custom quality allows auto or diffusion halftoning, with a dithering option that's greyed out. No idea what halftoning is, though.

EDIT: Set it to diffusion, since that's the only change I could make. No difference.

Google Video is shutting down, but now lets me reupload my videos to YouTube automatically

So all my 255 subscribers just got 23 6 year old videos of me and my friends playing basketball.

18 of them have "content" matches for the music...
Opinions are my own.

Luck of the draw I guess. Some clips from TV shows and movies stay up for years, other times it seems they're removed almost as soon as they go up.

You're lucky to have JCreator, back in the day you only do Java in Notepad with a separate compiler and execution file. Besides JCreator points out which lines you have errors with and how many occurrences of that error you had.

But then again, Java ain't my thing.

What?! There are programs now like that so you don't have to rely on Notepad?!
