Is that a good or a bad thing? Fallout 3 is like New Vegas but with no real important decisions.

I definitely like that they've allowed for more story branching in New Vegas but that doesn't make Fallout 3 a terrible game by any stretch of the imagination...outside the "It's not like Fallout 1 or 2, so it sucks" crowd.

Of course not, Fallout 3 was a great game. However, you gotta admit, the decisions in F3 were pretty negligible and the RPG elements left a little to be desired.

It wasn't as deep in that respect, I'd have to agree there. The main story was fairly linear with a couple of big decisions here and there (the consequences of which really only mattered with Broken Steel) so it came down to whether you picked the Good, Evil or Neutral method of finishing each quest. Oh, and whether or not to blow up Megaton.

So my bro got the game for 360, and I've played a bit, boy is it a mixed bag. Awesome amount of decisions, and game play is fun, love the new iron sights zoom. But honestly runs worse than Fallout 3. Maybe its cause I played Fallout 3 on PS3, and New Vegas on 360, I'm not sure. But awful load times, constant stuttering and everything feels delayed.

I was doing a few missions for the Powder Gang or w/e from NCRCF, and just to go through to the Eddie guy, the leader, it took probably a full two minutes to load. Now I did three half missions for the guy in about 40 minutes, that would be 12 minutes of endured loading times. Ridiculous!

I did see a slight improvement in graphics, but clearly they came at a cost. If it were to get any worse I'd say it's honestly unplayable.

Interesting. That's actually another reason I went with the PC version this year after playing both the 360 and PC versions of Fallout 3 last year, the PC's load times are much better. Loading times for the PC version seem to be about the same for me as Fallout 3, so no complaints there.

Yeah, the load times are killer. Almost to the end, but I haven't played in a few days. I'm sure I'll get sucked back in once I start, but at the 40 hour mark, I've gotten a bit weary of the game. I'll probably beat it by the time I get Hot Pursuit 2010 though.

I'm up to level 21... I've been good for the most part (I think). The legion and the powder gangers hate me, which doesn't bother me since the NCR leave me alone. Trying to get to the Boomers caused a lot of swearing on my end.

Level 27 right now and it feels like there's still so much to do (I still haven't stepped inside New Vegas)...
A weird bug occurred though: I have Veronica and ED-E as my companions, and both of them can't seem to understand when I tell them "only attack when I start engaging the enemy", which is really fucking annoying...So I was in McCarran base doing the interrogation thing with the Legion centurion, I was punching the hell out of him, and even though I had told her to wait outside, fucking Veronica entered the room and started shooting at the centurion. She didn't kill him but once I was done with him, the door got locked again with her still inside of that room...I figured she was gonna show up again if I just fast travel anywhere, but she didn't, she's stuck inside the interrogation room and there's nothing I can do to open that door. She already helped me enter the BoS Hidden Valley base, but I hope she wasn't needed for any other quest after that... :?

Man, the worst thing possible happened to me. As part of the main quest, I went into the Fort with the Legion with Boone of all people. I knew he'd shoot at them, as he did on previous occasions, but I never lost any reputation for it. So there I am, just entering Caesar's tent, when Boone kills some random legionnaire, and I become Vilified (I had a disguise on me). Suffice to say, all hell broke loose. I had all the elite guards & stuff on my tail. Had to take it a difficulty down just to get out of there alive.

The worst thing is, killing Caesar just like that doesn't really have any huge consequences on the main quest. :( House even said it isn't such a big deal. Yeah, killing an idolized leader is surely not a big deal. :(

Kinda over this game. 45 hours in, and really close to the end, it's hard to find motivation to beat this thing. I didn't have too much trouble killing Caesar. The Legion already hated me so I just went in there, killed him really fast, then escaped, while drip feeding myself Stimpaks.

Beat it tonight. Love how my 100 Speech rating won the game for me. Game was fun, albeit slow. Kinda burned out on it towards the end, but it was a good 50 hours or so.

First DLC has been announced, unfortunately, it's exclusive to Xbox 360 users. :(
Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax® Media company, today announced that Dead Money, the first downloadable content for Fallout®: New Vegas™, will be available exclusively on Xbox LIVE® for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft beginning December 21, 2010.

As the victim of a raw deal you must work alongside three other captured wastelanders to recover the legendary treasure of the Sierra Madre Casino. In Dead Money, your life hangs in the balance as you face new terrain, foes, and choices. It is up to you how you play your cards in the quest to survive.

Sounds kinda lame, but being a 360 user, I'll probably get it. Would prefer a Broken Steel type DLC that allows you to continue from the main quest.

Considering the PC version has a menu option for Downloadable Content, I'm guessing - or hoping, at least - that it's only a matter of time. If it's the first of a few packs, hopefully there is a Broken Steel-like add-on that allows the game to continue past the final quest. I know there's an unofficial mod already out there for the PC version that does that but it'd be nice to have some epilogue quest lines along with that ability similar to Broken Steel.

I'm up to the point in the main quest where I have to choose between continuing to work for Mr House, or alienate the NCR and Caesar's Legion. I've been doing a lot of the side quests, an area in which New Vegas is definitely a step up from Fallout 3. Admittedly some of the side quests that branch off as a means of advancing the main quest weren't marked as separate quests in FO3 which does boost the numbers a little but still seems like there's more to do. Still loving it at any rate.

I finally got to discover every single location, except for the 2 east of the Hoover Dam, which I'm assuming are linked to the main quest and pertain to the Legion. I still have plenty of quests and side-missions to go around though. I'm a little disappointed that 30 is once again the limit for leveling, I've reached it a while ago and wish I could keep improving my skills.
I must say I'm also a tiny bit tired of playing the good guy for this walkthrough, there are plenty of instances when I wanted to slaughter an annoying NPC but I'm reserving that for my second playthrough...

I'm still debating whether to lead Cass to the Van Graffs at the Silver Rush. She's quite effective as a companion, but at the moment I'm not sure whether I could survive the firefight to complete the quest without getting her killed.

I opted to do that. I had like 50 Stimpaks, and being in a weapon store, I was able to steal a bunch of energy weapons, and, while drip-feeding myself Stimpaks, took out all the Van Graffs. Was then able to sell all the weapons in there to buy more Stimpaks later on

Pretty much at the end of the game; well, in the home stretch at least. I've been warned about the point of no return for a couple of the main quest lines. I killed Mr House and the Legion is hostile to me, the Independent/Yes Man and NCR options are still open to me for the ending of this playthrough. I've got a few side quests still available to me which I might do before I go ahead and finish the game since I'm only at Level 25, plus I've got some saves at various points so that I can try the other options and see the other endings.

I finished my first walkthrough a few days ago, and I ended being a little weasel: I had very good karma but I ended up being Mr. House's bitch and betray the NCR. I had also slaughtered everyone in Caesar's camp before the final battle, and I destroyed the BoS bunker... I'm already at level 19 on my second walkthrough (I'm using a mod that increases it to 45 though), and I'm choosing a much more evil/straightforward approach. The problem is that if you really want to choose the bad karma route, you basically need to decline a bunch of side-quests where your help is needed, so you really end up missing a lot of the action...

Yeah, since I reached a point of no return with Caesar's Legion there were some side quests that I immediately failed and was unable to finish this time around. All the branching certainly does encourage repeat playthroughs and staggered saves.

I just reached level 30 and am at a point where any main quest choice causes either the legion or the NCR to hate me. So I chose the explorer perk and am wandering around finding all the locations to see if I can get the "don't tread on the bear" quest to disappear. It's funny how I go to a location, get a quest for something I already did, tell them I already did it and get a funny reaction.

On another note, while I was looking for a new tv for the family, I ended up finding a 3D solution for ATI video card users which was a special monitor by iz3d, and then I found out that you can just install their driver and use 3D glasses like red/cyan for almost any game. Been playing New Vegas in 3D, and it's awesome other than turning gray things purpleish and having to choose between a doubled cursor on the pip boy or a doubled crosshair.
Everything is a copy of a copy. Eventually, it distorts enough to look original.
