VH1's Top 100 Songs of the last 25 Years

Postby GloveGuy on Wed Jun 18, 2003 1:07 pm

I don't know about you guys, but it makes me mad when they leave off a guy like 2Pac who in my opinion could've had atleast could've had three songs on that countdown("Hit 'Em Up", "Changes", and "California Love") but NO. They decide to put songs like "Hot in Herre", "My Name Is", "Work It", and "Ms. Jackson". There has to be a mistake. They also put "Mmm Bop" on it ahead of him.

Don't take your time worrying, Gloveguy... Those lists are bullshit... Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit", # 1? As much as I like this band (and I consider myself a big Nirvana fan), that's not true... Those 2Pac examples you gave all made sense... I'm not so much into rap... But of course any 2Pac song is better than the nonsense "Mmmbop"... (N)

well....1st off....in my opinion rap isn't music at all....it's tasteless, rude, and the lyrics are idiotic in most cases (note....i did say "in my opinion")...so it shouldn't be there at all....

in my opinion they based that list by chart appearances and singles sold....not by quality, since publicity is the only way to classify it....since everyone has a diffrent musical taste...

Hanson and Britney sell a shitload of singles, and are on top odf the charts...that's why they get high places....

Teen spirit is an alright song...but as a devoted Nirvana fan i tell ya'll that that song isn't close to being my Nirvana favorite...even Kurt himself never liked it....it was popular, that's all...

Man I dunno about Eminem either in at number 4. That song is pretty new, I thought that some of the best songs would be the ones that have passed the test of time.

I also didn't see Coolio - Gangsta's Paradise in there, not that I'm a huge fan, but that song was absolutely huge at the time no?

Just looking at the top... how can Sweet child o mine be ahead of November Rain... oh well.. I never really bother with lists like these, they never resemble my taste anyway.

What a crappy list. Any list where Celine Dion, Shania Twain, Hanson, Nelly, Britney Spears, Cyndi Lauper, and Sinead O'Connor make it over Tupac and NWA is a crappy list. I like about 7-8 songs on the "top 100 songs list." Yeh, real great. I'm surprised n*sync didn't make the cut.

Well, you need to remember who compiled this list. VH1. Looking at the people they have placed on the list and considering their programing, it makes absolute sense. The general VH1 audience would most likely agree with this list.
