Linkinkg question

Postby Tuomas on Sun May 18, 2003 3:18 pm

And the question goes like this:
How can I make the image in my signature into a link, so when pressing the image, you'd get to my website?

I suppose you could make a picture that has a link on a website then link to that picture for your sig.

to be a little more precise than Collin :P :

in phpBB2 code :

Code: Select all

or in HTML code :

Code: Select all
<a href="http://www.finboy.com"><img src="http://www.finboy.com/finboyimage.jpg"></a>

I don't know if both works, but one of 2 may work for sure.

And please ensure that your image won't be too tall :D

It should also be noted that your host must allow remote linking, else your image won't show up. That's a common problem a lot of people using free hosts run into these days.

The image doesn't show up but it does link to your site even though the image is an x.

It allows remote linking to all non-HTML files? If it doesn't, the image won't show up. The only other possibility is you've entered an incorrect URL, but I assume you've already double-checked that.

Well, some hosts don't allow you to remotely link to images on their server. eg, you cannot link to an image stored on Yahoo! Geocities and have it show up in the forum. This is the case for most free web hosts these days.

They usually also extend this restriction to downloadable files. Hence, any patches hosted at Yahoo! Geocities cannot be linked to directly (ie to the .zip file).

Code: Select all

If you want that dunking VC to link to your webpage, this is the code you should use... and shouldn't appear as an [X], since right now I myself can see that VC gif... but it isn't linking anywhere...
