CKal made one, thought I'll make one too. ;D

I'll also update it, it will be basically like a.. blog or something, how my day went etc, what I did and all that. I practice and work everyday, like weightlifting, situps and pushups. I do like 15x40m sprints too, something like suicides.

Basic info:

Height: 169 cm, should be like.. 5'6"-5'7" ? Not sure, though.
Weight: 50-52 kg, depends on times, like 110 lbs if I am right.

Age: Turned 13 month ago, 20th May.

Some other stuff: Also thin, but I do weightlifting and everything, so I am kind a strong, but still, I'm thin. Around 50 cm vertical, but during the games I don't get very high.

Playing style: 1.5 guard, but that's just because I'm taller than some other guys in my class, thats why. Mostly I am the PG, lead my team to right spots

Gamestyle comparison - A mix of Allen Iverson, Rajon Rondo and Jordan Farmar.

Good skills:
Dribbling, not to be an ego, but I got kind a sick crossover.
Ability to get myself an open lane and finish with a layup.
Good penetration.
Still very young.
I shoot like 50% from the free throw line, and I got years to practice it.
I can shoot around 60% from 3m radius, when I'm not REALLY struggling, but that's just 3m.
Good passing ability with good court vision.
Great ideas for tricks and everything.
I don't really lose the ball much when dribbling.
Just came from playing basketball and shot 5/4 from 3pt line, so I got an okay 3 pointer.
Quickness and speed are both decent.
Good stamina, because I ride like 60 km's a week with my bike.
I can easily get to the foul line.
I average around 10 assists.

Not really basketball skills, but they help me a lot in my future :
I don't drink or smoke, and I will not.
I get good grades.
I know what I want from my life.
I work REALLY hard to get somewhere, I practise everyday atleast 1 hour.
I go to play basketball 3 or 4 times a week, and then we play like 3-5 hours, if not more.


Weaknesses/bad things:
I often get blocked.
Sometimes I try to do too much and go for something too hard.
Often leave myself dribbling or crossing the opponent, without looking around.
Many turnovers, because I try to do too much fancy stuff.
Haven't played in any special league, yet, but I will next year probably.
I get pushed around easily by bigger men.
I don't live in the best position where I could play basketball.
Unproven player to many people, but my friends know I can play.
I have hit only 1-3 shots from behind mid-court in my life.
Not a really good range on my jumpshot.
Can't use my real technique on my 3 pointer, because my wrists aren't too strong yet.
I am quicker than big men, but I'm not very talented with my speed, even though I can get past them, I am not a really fast guy.
I compare myself to Rajon Rondo, not just because of the game style, but because some days I can light up 40 points on 15/30 shooting, some games I finish with 5 points out of 2/20 shooting.
I sometimes gamble on defense and leave my team alone if it's a fast break.



If you don't like it, then I don't really care about it. :P

And the reason why I posted it here, was because Dynasty was boring, why not this ? It's like a dynasty with myself in real life, but it's something like a blog. :) I also hope everyone can give be tips and everything what to do and so on.

You don't go to practice, can't shoot and have big ears? Find a new sport...

Actually, these stats are the truth. We're not a league or anything, we always do one game after the practise. It's from the schoolyear that just ended. We have 4 players, and it's very easy for me to get assists as long as I just throw it to the center sometimes. And I can score 15 easily.. Well, not easily, but I can do it anyways.

And about the 4/5, sorry for writing 5/4, lol, but actually during the game I usually take like 4 attempts and hit 1, but sometimes I don't hit any three pointers.

Today, we didn't go to play, haven't played with my friends for one week already, because of the work I have to do at home. I've always played at home, though.

Haha, I just had fun playing against my cousin. He'll turn 11 tomorrow and he's like.. 15 cm's shorter than me. He plays in a league, goes to training 3 times a week, goes to training camp this summer and also goes to competition's in Finland this summer. We played like 10 minutes.Therefore, I won 15 - 0. ( We didn't play with 1 point rule, but 2p and 3pt rule ) It was so damn easy, I thought he plays better because he is in a league and stuff, but his D didn't affect me, it was easy to get a steal against him, and I had like 3 blocks. That was funny. This time I hit 3/4 from the 3pt line. It seems like I've improved my shot a lot in the past weeks, that's good.. One day I practiced my technique a lot, it seems to be working.

Pretty much everything I said in CKal's thread applies here as well. The bottom line is to practice skills where you need improvement. I think you've already identified some of your problems, such as trying to do too much or trying to be fancy when making the simple play will suffice. Those are things you should obviously try to avoid.

Joe', I told I'll post almost everything I do on the court everyday, so I did. What's your problem ? What's wrong with me playing against an 11 year old boy ? What should I do ? Hire a bulked up athlete and play against him instead ? Roger that. -.-

Andrew, I'm mainly trying to train my left hand and my jumpshot without getting blocked.. It's harder than I thought. That turnover and stuff, it's like.. It's like a 50% mental skill, but fancyness and everything, I can't get past it, even though I'm trying. I'll try harder, then.

Perhaps you need to play in a more organised environment, somewhere you'll be forced to sit if you get fancy when it's not appropriate. Otherwise, just try to remain in control. If you're swarmed by defenders, don't feel you have to break out the AND1/Harlem Globetrotters stuff. Making the smart, simple play is preferable to looking cool, especially since you won't look very cool turning the ball over. ;)

As airBerlin said, you should pump fake to get defenders off guard if you find your jumpshot being blocked a lot. Do what you can to elude the defender so they're not in a position to block your shot. If you're driving to the rim, you can also use the hoop to shield from the block. That doesn't mean pulling off a highlight reel up-and-under layup, simply going up on the other side so the defender can't come over and block the shot.

It's kind a hard actually. When I go against my classmate, who's also a good player, he simply throws himself up to the air, and not everytime I pump fake. I don't get my jumpshot blocked very much, but layups. I should try to avoid the block more, but that's hard when your not LBJ.

You should definitely try the method of using the rim to shield from the block. Perhaps you could develop a floater/teardrop shot, plenty of smaller players past and present have used it to get shots up over taller players. Tim Hardaway often used it following his killer crossover; if your crossover that you mentioned is effective, you might want to try the same thing. The quickness of the crossover followed by the floater might be good in eluding taller defenders.

Also, you don't want to do the same thing every time down the court. Any defender worth their salt is going to recognise if you always go left (for example) and beat you to the punch.

If your layups are being blocked that's when you use a jump stop.

I remember playing 1-on-1 with this guy, and the game was like 5-6, up to 7. I was the one "trailing", with the ball.

I drove past him, but he regained his position. I stopped dribbling and he put pressure on me. I jumped up, and he went up, and I release on my way down and hits the banker. :mrgreen: This was one of the best shots on my "career". (Y)

Game tied 6-6, win by 2, I have the ball. I drove past him, faked a layup and sent him flying into the dirt. :lol: And easy bucket for me. Then I did the exact same thing and won. :D

Faking layups work, especially when people still think that you suck and don't know how to fake.

Faking layups work, especially when people still think that you suck and don't know how to fake.

It may work on 1-on-1, not when you're a 1.60 m., one-handed PG who'll get blocked by anyone on 5-on-5.

I agree with the above guy in principle.

Why spend 10min posting this, plus time checking it and replying - rather than going out and dribbling.
Stop looking for the quick fix that's gonna make you a star and go out and practice.

If you're not interested in a thread like this, no one's forcing you to read it or respond to it. I don't think threads like these are inappropriate for the general discussion area.

However, I'd agree with Laxation. Now that you've got some suggestions Oskar, you might want to start spending some time putting in some serious practice, if you're serious about developing your game.

Laxation, Not the best of weathers last week.. Though, I did harder work yesterday, I did 100 pushups instead of 65, 100 situps instead of 65 situps and 100 biceps instead of 50. You're right, though. I'll probably go and play with my friends today, right now I'm waiting for them on MSN, but they don't come online. If they don't show up, I'll play alone and probably going to shoot 100 free throws and tell the results. Same with field goals from +3m range. Not sure, will see if I do it, I will if we don't go with friends. If we go with friends, I will use left hand as my first option, I want to develop it.

Andrew, thanks for following. And yeah, I already answered to Laxation, it should kind a allow to you too. :P

I'm planning of doing a video of me dribbling and doing some shots, but I have none to film me, so it's very hard. I might do it at the end of the summer though, so I can be better. One day I actually did a little dribbling video to see myself, I was kind a surprised, because it was pretty quick. I'll do more more sprints today than before, I need my speed to catch quickness.

Just did the 100 free throws. Didn't have a really big basket infront of me, neither a lid on it, but well..

43/100. :/ I'll do 100 almost everyday, I'll try to get my average like 55 at the end of the summer.

At first when I went out, I stretched, then I did something like suicides, with 15m little road, ran it 5 times straight as fast as I could, and then repeated once.

Off to 100 jump shots from behind 3 meter range. I will edit it later. I'll guess I'll hit like 30 lol. Not having a really great day.

Btw, it's kind a windy outside, so I guess that ruins it a little bit too.

Jumpshots results coming soon !

EDIT: It started to rain, so I didn't do jumpshots.
Therefore, I practiced my behind the back dribble and I also did my exercises:
50 pushups, 50 situps, 50 biceps.
I trained my dribbling on a stair, I was on one step and I bounced on a higher step that was behind me.

You should hit at least 80% on uncontested shots 3 meters away from the bucket.
