Lean doesn't need recognition to attract the ladies. He's got ho's in different area codes.

You have no idea MikeMan.
I don't even need the seriouscat emoticon to show how serious I am with the statements regarding Lean.

:seriouscat:

They don't do voiceovers to give credit to the technical/multimedia team. The smallest credit I got was when the boss came to me and personally thanked me for "helping" then shook my hand. What I'm looking forward to, is to get paid for doing work that's beyond my job description.

It is, for now. I've filed a petition for an overtime pay the other day. Hopefully it gets accepted.

Modifly, CORAZON "CORY" AQUINO our First woman president just died. she was the "Mother of Democracy", she was the one who lead us to EDSA REVOLUTION in 1986... try googling her, it's worth a look, try reading her story... her husband , the Late Benigno "NINOY" Aquino is a national hero, who was assassinated in 1983.   RIP Madam President

YELLOW is her favorite color. so Philippines mourn with yellow in her death, not black.

BUMP?

Finally got a first client, work is vector art, cheaply priced but not paid yet.

(without background)
Image

(with the cheesy captions and random backgrounds - resized to fit a 2'x3' canvass):
Image

Now my client (a friend, and all that) thinks that I made this thing in a hurry. And finds that the cut-away shape layers seem that it's cutting his girlfriend's face. And uhh, he also said that he "would rather print the Cameron vector on canvass rather than his own girlfriend's vector portrait."

And he also said to "do my style." Apparently the cut-away style is the universal style.

Thing is I was absent from the office just to finish this, because I know the pay for this work is equivalent to a half-a-week pay in my real work.

So I did the same procedures as to my first vector portraits -- with the difference that the source photo wasn't stolen from the internet but instead was given by the client.

Here's the source pic (taken with a camera phone and bad lighting):

Image

Call me a jerk but I tried to explain everything: that if I posterize the photo in default level 9, the outcome would be horrendous and her girlfriend would look deep-fried so I re-adjusted the posterization level to 15. If I adjust it to 21, there will be no more vector shape layers visible because it looks EXACTLY like the source pic if posterized to that level.

I need opinions if I have to just re-adjust the shape layers so that they don't look like cut-aways or should I start from scratch again.

Here's another comparison:

The vector art is already a piece of perfection and in my opinion there is nothing to be tweaked on it anymore. (Y) ...btw how much do you charge your clients? :cheeky:

I think I know what your friend means, your Batman one looks like the pic you took it from whereas this looks kinda abstract in the sense that every shape is visible. Doesn't look "real", I'm assuming that's what he's after. Either way, I'd hit that.

A revision, Jae?

I understand what my friend pointed out. When he referred to the Cameron vector I told him that the source photo (for the Cameron vector) is 1: big enough and 2: there's good lighting.

But I still need your opinions if I should stick with this or to revise the face part only.

something's wrong... :?: :?: :?: the vector doesn't entirely resemble the real one... i don't know what,,, maybe thee darkness and lightness of the shapes... maybe try softening the shapes they look to obvious... the lady is pretty in the real image and in the vector you really can't determine if she's pretty or not.

would it be bad if you add some shadows (burning and dodging) in some parts? would it not make it a vector graphics? i think it would help.
also try not to make the dark spaces between the teeth to obvious they look "bungi" in someways.

I know you can make it better, if not, the best. i hope i helped with my comments and suggestions.

Can't do some Dodge/Burn in Photoshop vector. But I know just the thing to fix this. 30% opacity doesn't work, and I have to settle with 10%. Now I believe I have to readjust the shapes so that they won't look as random as they do now -- especially on the left cheek.

I see your point, but I do tend to leave traces of their humane uniqueness in the vector, except for eyebags.

Revision: 2
Stick with it: 1

i know what's wrong, the details of the eyes and around the eyes... if you look the real image, her ayes are closed too each other in a cute way, while in the vector they look close but the two eyes doesn't look in the same direction...try fixing the details in it...

also if you can see in the real image , her left cheekbone is way brighter that her right cheekbone. (i think this is why i thought of the burn and dodge tool)

for the teeth gap, have you tried removing the gap? or at least not make it too obvious?

PS.
have you tried blurring some of the layers in the face so shapes won't be too visible?

No, not as of yet. But it's in a "safe" 10%.

Now I see that right eye has some missed pixels in it. Should get it fixed. It's her left cheek (the brighter one, so in our perspective, it's the right one) that's screwing it up. If I add shadows on her left eye, it would look sunken.

I have to blame the resource photo.
Maybe that's what we get when a resource photo is from a camera phone that has no flash functions. :|

This vector right here shows that there's no such thing as a perfect work. :)

EDIT: I don't blur vector shapes since I have to rasterize it first. I have to stick with the flat vector shapes concept.

also the teeth are too big, which makes it look like she's bitting her lips.
try adding a noseline, it's obvious in the real image that she's not "pango" but in the vector she looks like one...
also try add details/strands/make some better transition between the hair and the forehead, the hair looks like a wig placed on top of a bald person... try to add small pointed transition just like in the one's above the ear of your summer glau.
(F*CK FOX for not renewing TSCC for season 3!!!! - i'm still not over it it's been 3 months since it was announced cancelled... hahaha)
