Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

Yeah, that accent is gone.

phpBB [video]

And speaking of accents, it's really weird how Peyton and Billie's accents stand out to me. Like, they should sound normal to me because I'm Australian and from the same state (only two hours up the coast from Sydney, where they're from), but whenever I hear Aussie accents on American TV shows, it just sounds weird. Probably because it's not expected, and emphasises the accent to the point where I can hear it, rather than it just registering as people talking.

Wow, Mysterio vs. Nakamura next week. Lynch vs Charlotte Last Man Standing match. They're doing such simple things on Smackdown and somehow it's just way more interesting than anything they could ever do on Raw. Hell, even the mystery One Night In Milwaukee video got people to tune in for a few weeks.

Now with Crown Jewel (aka Saudi King of The Ring) has been announced, the women's Evolution PPV makes more sense. They couldn't possibly do another big show and leave the women out again without giving them something. Now it looks a lot less like a gesture of goodwill or something they actually wanted to do and instead something to prevent mutiny among the troops

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's been thinking that. It feels a bit cynical to say, but I think there is an attempt at balance there. I think they do also want to make history with it and they've treated the women's division a lot better than they were many years ago, but they are having their cake and eating it too on that one.

It's also great that Carmella is now a face without changing the way she talks. Have to catch up on Smackdown later, so is Rey going to Smackdown full-time?

That's the way it is with a lot of the best turns, especially once a character is established. Same basic attitude and character, but the targets and motivations change.

I still can't believe the royal family specifically wanted Ultimate Warrior, Yokozuna, and Undertaker for the first Saudi event  WWE delivering 1 out of 3 wasn't bad, considering the state of the other two.
Undertaker the only one showing up, always a true pro.

Knowing Vince he'd probably dig up the graves of those two if he had his way, whatever's good for the business.

You know they're dedicated fans of pro wrestling when they ask for someone who passed away almost 20 years ago, let alone one who passed away four years ago.

At least they didn't pull off a fake Ultimate Warrior and a fake Yokozuna.

They should have dressed Rikishi up to play his brother, and hope that they would be fooled. But I guess "not alive" is a good enough reason to not have wrestlers on shows.

Third straight week for Raw having the Shield and Braun's group main event in a six-man tag.

Evolution reunion on Smackdown's 1000th episode. Because, you know. The group that ran roughshod over RAW for a few years really needed to be a part of Smackdown's celebrations.

It's really weird to have Evolution on a Smackdown celebration show, and probably have teased a HHH-Batista match for Wrestlemania for the obligatory Triple H Wrestlemania involvement which I am very much tired of.

It's classic HHH. Yes, they all spent time on Smackdown during the first brand extension, but Evolution was a RAW thing, and HHH and Flair in particular spent less time on Smackdown than Batista and Orton (with the stable long being a thing of the past at that point). I know it's easy to hate on HHH, but it does strike me as his ego running wild again: for most of the original brand extension he wanted to be on RAW because it was the A Show, but Smackdown is celebrating a milestone so of course he has to be a part of it somehow.

It was kind of an underwhelming show. They tried to fit all the old guys in the best they could without spending too much time (except for HHH and his friends, who always get the spotlight)

Was cool to see Rey vs Nakamura for the first time ever but I was hoping for a longer match

So much for the "World Cup" involving all Americans lmao. Should have called it what it actually is, Saudi King of the Ring

Reigns relinquished the Universal Championship after saying his leukemia came back. Rollins/Ambrose won the tag titles again, and Ambrose finally turned heel after winning. Braun turns to a face again.

Kinda sad with the way his booking went, his currently predicament finally drew genuine cheers from the crowd.

And it seems like the Universal Championship is kinda cursed, hopefully Braun finally wins it and get the reign he was due to have last year.

For sure, the issues with his booking and the inability to make him sympathetic despite clearly being the protagonist in his angles are well documented. After seeing that promo though, when he returns I'd like to see him tap into that part of his personality. I think that'd make his on-screen persona more authentic, sympathetic, and likeable, and knowing what he will have gone through, it wouldn't surprise me if the crowd got behind him as a result. First things first though, and that's looking after his health.

Wrestling has gone too far

The small joint trend makes me cringe each time too. I'll admit that it is nice to be worked and react to match stuff though

Evolution was actually a pretty fun show to watch. Botchamania is gonna have a field day, but I think I watched every match except for the riot quad 6 man tag
Becky & Charlotte obviously had a great match. I'd say the other two matches were Storm/Shirai and Sane/Shayna (despite the interference and them putting the belt on her AGAIN)
