Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

The x background looks like a background from a TNA PPV poster

Seems like that could be the belt that Punk was referring to. You know, I'm not sure that it's that much better than the spinner belt (and its more recent derivatives that don't spin but are the same basic design), it just looks plain. Should've gone with something closer to the design that was being used before Cena unveiled the original spinner belt in 2005.

Although it was fun to see Michael Cole get his arse kicked on RAW this week, I thought they were phasing out his over the top, antagonistic persona. We've seen enough of it.

I for one, hopes that this isn't the main plate of the belt.

Good point, it could be one of the side plates. That wouldn't be so bad, as a main plate it's not much of an improvement.

Heard that apart from the title matches, it was pretty ordinary. At least Johnny Ace has been ousted, though I doubt he's off TV for long.

i like watching all of dolph zigglers matches, so that was a must-see for me. also, an interesting twist in the tag team scene.
layla is clearly not as sharp as she should be and i really tihnk they should have her drop the belt to beth or kharma. overall, i really like the ppv shows. minimal talking (i skipped the whole HHH thing about brock) and good long matches. i wish they'd use the same formula for Raw, but i guess they think people have short attention spans.

We might start seeing a bit more of that with RAW going to three hours. The thing is, the weekly shows are what build the angles while the PPVs are where feuds are blown off or if they're long programs, taken to the next level with a big match. Giving away PPV matches on TV is one of the things that ultimately did WCW in, as the lost ticket sales and lower buyrates ate into their profits, all for the sake of winning a ratings war that eventually turned against them anyway.

Since they'll be going to three hours though, there should be ample time to feature some more matches to balance out promos and backstage segments, which are still important to the product. They've long been a part of the product too, it's just that these days they're often too cheesy or just too plain boring to enjoy.

the way they used to do it was great. they'd tease us with the main eventers getting separated during a promo but they wouldn't get to get a clean shot on each other. nowadays, a "feud" just leads to the same people going at each other each week in tag matches that don't mean anything. usually the loser of the ppv match scores a win the week before the ppv to "surprise" people or to throw the audience off. i understand the big names are what sells tickets and draws ratings, but i don't care to see a meaningless tag match between the biggest names or cena vs. whoever his latest victim is. it's insulting to our intelligence to have them try to make us think that cena might not win when he wins every time at the ppv.

To their credit, they had him go under to The Rock at Wrestlemania and it took a bunch of other people interfering to beat Big Show at No Way Out. I do agree though, in general the twists and turns are predictable and they haven't done enough as far as cutting down on the superhuman, "Hulk Hogan in the 80s" style booking for Cena.

TNA has been consistently good recently, and this open fight night stuff is pretty cool.

Also, the Bound for Glory Series is back again this year, concept seems just as good as last year

Best Ziggler match for me is the one versus Daniel Bryan from Bragging Rights.

Just saw No Way Out's first match, this is probably one of Dolph's best matches. I can't say he carried Sheamus though, there were botches in the match on some counters.

I was thinking about that the other day. It certainly helped solidify his place at the top of the company, right up there with Cena and Orton. In fact, according to the dirtsheets, he's supposedly now being looked upon internally as the number two guy behind Cena following Orton's latest suspension.

Punk would be the man of the company if WWE isn't high on Cena.
