Apparently rumours of TNA's television demise are greatly exaggerated, but then they denied similar reports last year about the situation with Spike.

NXT.

Really? A TNA rep responded to questions about their cancellation with "stop saying the company is dying, it isn't", which quite clearly ignores the issue of whether or not they've been canceled.

SAMI ZAYN DEBUTS ON RAW

This was so damn good. I used to hate Cena but this open challenge thing is leading to immortal moments. I cant believe Sami hurt himself he was so hyped

They've been bringing up the right guys and doing it the right way lately so that fans are cheering them from the get go. Neville and Zayn were handled right instead of shoving guys like the ascension, bo Dallas and Adam rose down our throats. When Balor, itami, Kevin owens, and Samoa Joe hit the main roster, they'll probably be immediate mid carders just like Neville is right now. And you know Charlotte will get a monster push when she comes

In context now with Joe and Owens having now appeared, this is dead on. They're doing it so right for the ones that matter. I never liked the Ascension anyway.

Unstoppable was a hell of a show

I'm excited for Uhaa Nation to debut on NXT. I don't really follow the indies much but I'm sure I'm going to be an instant fan.

I've seen him live. He's going to put on one hell of a show. Even if you don't follow indies people should start watching PWG. Its easily got the most "talent" before they get big.

Funny how Rusev was supposed to be russian and I know he has bulgarian origins, but he could at least learn to say the russian for "no" which is "niet", not "ne" which is the bulgarian word. Doesn't the audience give a fuck about this little superficial mistakes ? That is like his only gimmick, he is a mad russian guy, and they can't get that right.

He said nyet a couple of times. Also, they're supposedly getting rid of his Russian gimmick. Also these are questions you don't have to ask, because wrestling isnt real.

Cena/Owens. Holy shit

Owens is easily one of the top 5 things in the entire business right now. I want him as much as possible.

I'd like to see Kurt Angle & Jeff Hardy get one last WWE run.

Kurt mentioned, possibly on flair's woo nation podcast, that if WWE had let him do just RAWs/PPVs instead of a full schedule he would've done it recently. They wouldn't so he went back to the clusterfuck that is TNA because they basically said "whatever you need Kurt"

Sting? Was that a WCW owned name? Or would Steve not cut it?

Even if Steve didnt own it, they own all the WCW names now.

That's what I was getting at.

NXT.

Well yeah, but I don't really count NXT when I talk about WWE since the shows are drastically different. Becky Lynch/Sasha Banks match was amazing

Re: Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Sure, but the NXT women are better than the TNA women. "TNA's women's product is superior to WWE's" is essentially true, but it's not the whole story given NXT's easily bests both.

The only thing I hate right now is the NXT Women Championship belt. It looks like a toy.

I've noticed that aside from Cena and Vacant (I don't know if the Bella's are face/heel), every title holder from NXT to the main roster are heels.

Vacant is the greatest tweener in pro wrestling history.

Apparently Kevin Owens is being called up to the main roster very soon. Not really surprised.

So he's gonna drop the belt to Finn Balor? Or not that soon?

Re: Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

He's booked for both WWE and NXT live events. I'm going to assume they would want to promote the brand and network even more by having Owens as champion on WWE TV.

Have the two of you not noticed him on Raw and SmackDown the past two weeks? He's got an angle, he's advertised on Raw for the next couple of months...he's been called up. It's already happened.

MOTY. Possible favorite of all-time with Shield v Hell No + Ryback, or probably many others I loved and forgot.

Nearly shat myself when he went up for the package...figured Network exclusive, failed springboard moonsault, etc, they might like the move stay...

Probably just a kneejerk reaction/feeling, especially since I listened to the Austin podcast with him this week, so the feeeeeels.

Re: Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Mon Jun 01, 2015 3:04 pm

Lol yeah i watch with headphones but Cena likes to coach people when he gets them in the STF. I dunno, I guess I'm used to it but it ruins the experience.

I dunno what they will do with Owens, but I hope they don't make him feud with Cena. Every time they try to build up a new heel vs Cena, they get buried. See: Nexus, Ryback, Tensai, Wyatt, Rusev

Re: Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Mon Jun 01, 2015 5:11 pm

I wouldn't say buried. They just don't know how to book them after the feud is done. With Rusev in particular, it's a common problem with monster heel booking. Ryback was losing to CM Punk before he was losing to Cena, if I recall correctly. Tensai was just kind of a flop, after finding success in Japan.

Re: Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

I love Owens. Love him. So glad that Cena put him over.

The PPV in general I thought was really enjoyable with the exception of the IC Title match, and the Divas Match. I enjoyed the tag match, thought Cena/Owens was A+ (strangely enough, for awhile now I've caught myself saying that Cena put on a good match over and over again; I think he's been doing so for months, or I'm crazy), and the World Heavyweight Title match was good with Rollins and Ambrose with the exception of the end (I was hoping for, and it felt like they were teasing hard, for a Reigns heel turn). I still maintain that Ambrose needs to get new attire, cause the jeans are awful. They seem to be trying to build him up as the anti-authority face, in a similar way to Stone Cold Steve Austin, and the fans are really digging it. But those jeans, though.

I don't think I've been as excited to watch RAW in some time as I am tonight. I'll tune in for the entire three hours, I think, which is something I haven't done or even planned on doing in years.

Really hope they continue to bring in these NXT guys and treat them properly. Still waiting for my man Cesaro to get a legitimate gimmick and singles push. Same with Barrett regarding the gimmick.

PS - Could Bo Dallas have any more of a dad bod? Hit the gym, guy, you perform in underwear for a living.

PPS - Need the following guys to never be on TV ever again, or buried in the tag division: Mark Henry, Rybak, The Ascension, The Miz, R Truth, Curtis Axel, Adam Rose, Fandango, Heath Slater, Sheamus, Stardust, Zack Ryder.

Are you serious? Even if we're just limiting it to main roster WWE...Michaels-Taker, Michaels-Taker II, Steamboat-Savage, Hart-Austin, TLC, TLC II, Cena-Punk, HHH-Michaels-Benoit...

Throw in NXT and you've got Zayn-Cesaro III, Neville-Zayn, Cesaro-Regal, Lynch-Banks, Charlotte-Lynch-Banks-Bayley, Neville-Zayn-Kidd-Breeze...

Plus TNA: Styles-Daniels-Joe, Styles-Daniels-Joe II, Joe-Angle II, Joe-Angle IV, Angle-Wolfe, Angle-Wolfe II...

ROH? Joe-Punk II, Joe-Punk III, Aries-Danielson, Danielson-Strong, Joe-Kobashi, Do Fixer-Blood Generation, Danielson-KENTA, pretty much every version of Danielson-McGuinness, McGuinness-Marufuji...

And having said all that...I didn't think it was that good. ****+, for sure, and the right guy actually went over (which I figured would happen given Cena's doing the 'fighting champion' thing, Owens is doing the 'I fight for a prize' thing, and it was a non-title match, although it is Cena and Owens looked really strong on TV in the build, so I was skeptical), but the Attitude Adjustment has lost basically all credibility at this point and they seemed to throw in (and kick out of) basically everything. I'm worried about the rematch at this point.

Plus the aforementioned spot-calling problems, and I'm four and a half meters away from my TV with no headphones. And I'm not usually someone who catches that sort of thing.

The other thing that bugged me was Cena's complete inability to bump for Owens's finish. It's a powerbomb, YOU DO NOT LAND ON YOUR ASS.

Nearly shat myself when he went up for the package...figured Network exclusive, failed springboard moonsault, etc, they might like the move stay...
Thing is, half the time it's more of a powerbomb anyway.

Andrew wrote:I wouldn't say buried.
Nexus and Wyatt got buried, no question. Wyatt had to pull distraction shenanigans to win what ended up as a three-on-one handicap cage match in his favour, and lost the other two. He was never coming back from that.

They just don't know how to book them after the feud is done. With Rusev in particular, it's a common problem with monster heel booking.
Rusev's problem is that he's lost his undefeated status, his manager, and his gimmick all at exactly the same time. "Hey, here's a guy that's over! Let's change everything about him."

bigh0rt wrote:The PPV in general I thought was really enjoyable with the exception of the IC Title match, and the Divas Match. I enjoyed the tag match
I didn't think the divas match was that bad, by main roster standards, although it's a shame that reverse rana didn't come off. The tag match annoyed the hell out of me. It's an elimination match, and guys are breaking up pinfalls. Why? It's a tag team match, but New Day are arbitrarily allowed a third guy Los Matadores aren't allowed a third guy, but use one anyway. Cesaro and Kidd are over as fuck and going fantastically, then get rolled up from behind by the only other remaining babyface team, turning them heel and killing all the energy the match had built up.

Meanwhile in the IC chamber, Mark Henry magically became eligible (even if he can get out of his pod and start squashing people, he shouldn't be able to pin them until his pod officially opens) and Sheamus's pod door...was stuck shut, then magically opened, neither of which occurred for any adequately explored reason.

And then we cap off the night with a horrendously predictable Dusty finish. They could've at least had interference or something, so there was a reason for the ref bump other than the Dusty finish. Given there were no shenanigans, I knew what was coming the second the ref counted three. And then they beat down Ambrose, but it's after the match so obviously Reigns can make the save. *yawn*

(strangely enough, for awhile now I've caught myself saying that Cena put on a good match over and over again; I think he's been doing so for months, or I'm crazy)
He's been doing it for years. Give him a big match with a guy that can actually work, and it will probably be great. It's just happening so much more frequently now due to the influx of indy talent giving Cena something he can work with, instead of the big stiffs he's incapable of having good matches with but was stuck with for much of his main event run. He was doing good work as far back as 2003 against Angle, and even after making the main event and reworking his gimmick and moveset he put on two classics with Shawn Michaels in the space of a month, one of which went 50+ minutes.

Say what you will about his character and his booking, but he can absolutely go in the ring.

PS - Could Bo Dallas have any more of a dad bod? Hit the gym, guy, you perform in underwear for a living.
I suspect it's genetic; nobody in his family has ever looked in particularly good shape.

Fixed.

Yeah, some of those guys are absolutely horribly booked, but that's not their fault.
