Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

They probably don't see it as anything special. Granted, it's not a main event angle or a classic or anything, but it's the kind of thing that can keep the midcard interesting, when done well.

Tag team division is pretty dope right now with the Lucha Dragons on the mix.

I'd have to agree. It's the most interesting division to me right now. My favorites are champions, lucha dragons are new (to the main roster) and new day are slowly turning. It wfewthr only segment on raw that I actually watched completely

Mizdow was OVER with the crowd. Sure the feud is not main event worthy but it managed to at least get Mizdow a "character" when before that he is going nowhere. They should have let Mizdow win the Battle Royal instead of fucking Big Show.

They also cut the Goldust/Stardust feud early.

Prime Time Players are also getting a run in the tag time division.

Oh, I agree on all counts. I'm not saying they were justified in their thinking, just that I believe that's their train of thought.

It's been so long since i've been here that I've actually had time to get back into wrestling after a 15 year gap.

Have to say, Friggin loved Wrestlemania. Been going to some local shows, watching some PWG and New Japan also.

How do you leave Benoit out of that list? Also some of the NXT guys are just phenomenal.

A lot of people probably don't like to think of Benoit or subconsciously overlook him, given the circumstances.

His dedication to entertaining us is what gave him the issues that eventually led him to lose his mind and become a horror story. I dont agree with what he did of course, but I will never overlook benoit. I'm not saying throw him in the hall of fame or anything, but i will never forget the great character he gave me for my lifetime enjoyment of wrestling

To segue a bit: What is yalls story of how you got into watching wrestling? Mine is I grew up watching it with my Dad but when I was about 13 I stopped (About the time I got into other sports like basketball/football). Recently after a rough breakup in september, a long time friend was like "hey wanna watch summerslam?" I was like "sure". Instantly readdicted, I've been watching almost weekly since. To the point where my friend and two of our other friends have now started going to Indy shows.

Actually we've gotten so far into it, we've started a weekly podcast called "Stupid and Delicious". If anyones interested http://stupidanddelicious.podbean.com/ there's a link or you can find us on itunes and stitcher.

I promise this wasnt just a shameless plug, just partially. I wanna hear yalls stories.

Absolutely, but given the circumstances, it's understandable that some people prefer not to think of or mention him in discussions like that...or if they're newer fans, they're probably not really aware of him because WWE rightfully doesn't actively promote or talk about him.

On the subject of the Hall of Fame, it puzzles me whenever I see someone argue that he should be inducted. Of course his body of work in professional wrestling deserves acknowledgement, but given what happened...you can't, you just can't. It's funny, because WWE was criticised for airing the tribute before the full details were revealed (or if you buy into conspiracy theories, they aired it despite knowing what had actually happened), and were roundly blamed and roasted for the tragedy. Now there are people - admittedly a vocal minority of fans, but a contingent that exists nevertheless - that criticise them for not wanting to induct him.

I guess a lot of it comes down to the childish idea that taking the contrary stance is a sign of higher intelligence and knowing better ("Whatever it is, I'm against it!"), or a belief that WWE has to be in the wrong no matter what, but it's pretty silly either way. They were caught in a tough spot that turned into a PR nightmare, one of the darkest times in the history of the industry. Their current approach is the correct one, in my opinion.

As for how I got into it, it was back during the Attitude Era. I started watching it casually, and was hooked by the middle of 1998. I remember renting a bunch of old PPVs from the video store (cause VHS was still a thing at the time), learning the history in detail.

I started when I was 5 or 6 around 91 or 92 watching raw Monday nights with my cousin and grandma. Grew up watching guys like Mr. Perfect, Ted Dibiase, Bret Hart, Owen Hart, and Shawn Michaels.

My cousin drove up to Santa Clara for wrestlemania this year and she's trying to convince me to go to Dallas next year, which I am considering

The best match at Extreme Rules was the tag match. Might be the first time in a long while that I managed to watch a PPV without knowing the results before hand so I enjoyed the match. I was legitimately pissed that the New Day won on a fucking roll-up.

Didn't watch the main event since I fell asleep

it's weird how nowadays, matches only end with finishers or roll ups now. Gone are the days when "signature moves" won matches as well as finishers. It kinda sucks as you can basically zone out until someone hits a roll up or their finisher

It was cool that he got to have one last moment in the spotlight, and some fun at Vince McMahon's expense, during his WWE Hall of Fame induction a few years back. Apparently, he's been in somewhat of a decline in the years that have followed, suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
