My taste for him mostly went sour when he insisted I was brainwashed and would not consider otherwise, which didn't go over kindly with me. Then I continued to see him post in an arrogant manner. Then, once he made threats towards Jackal about one of their arguments saying he would hack into his computer or mess it up in some way (which I believe is fairly immature especially coming from a married lawyer expecting kids, since a 5 year old could download something to screw up someone's computer), I lost my last inch of respect for him. But, that's just my thoughts.

As do I, he's a great poster, but this puts a lot of pressure on Jackal. He's trying to do his best to weigh the pros and cons of this whole situation, and he even let the first threat slide and tried to reconcile things, but in the heat of the moment, he gets another threat. It's unfair for Jackal to take all the heat when he's trying to be fair, even when he was being modest about presenting his view of things. People actually had to tell him to give his side of the story, because he's taking in a lot of shit from a lot of people. I say give this some time to cool down, because this is obviously a dilemma to a lot of people.

Wrong. I didn't get alot of them, to be precise I got 3 of them. Either way, that was still more then I wanted to get. And no Einstein I didn't think it was a bit strange considering I knew it would happen if I ever became a mod.

Not sure where you're coming from there, but I think I've shown in the past I'm quite willing to listen to the criticisms and concerns and try to work towards a peaceful solution that satisfies everyone (or as many people as possible). Given the fact I've completely rewritten the rules when there's been a lot of complaints about the moderating - admittedly more than there have been recently - I honestly feel I'm pretty reasonable about things and willing to make changes, whenever necessary.

It's not just our forum that works that way, it should be pointed out. I sometimes post at a Simpsons forum that's really popular, and attitudes a very similar, as is the moderating. There are some mods that are pretty diplomatic, and there are some that, when someone spams or causes trouble might make a bit of a smart comment when locking the thread, maybe even a low level insult. And that community is great, it runs really well and people can appreciate the human nature of moderating.

I personally don't use the same method in my moderating, but I'm familiar with it, I've seen it work and as long as it's in context it shouldn't really cause a problem. If it's going overboard and it's more like persecution than moderation, then yes, it does become a problem. But that's not the case in that forum and I honestly don't think it's like that in ours, either.

To be cliche, it's a two way street. We've been trying to ease up on the moderating so everyone can have a little back and forth before we start splitting or locking threads, so there can be heated discussions (up to a point) and whatnot, but the thing is mods are posters too. We're setting an example, yes, but we're also entitled to the same latitude.

And no, that's not a "Shut up, I'm not listening to any complaints" speech. That's just my perspective based on my experiences in not only this community but another as well.
