but jackal used to say to me that "it was a bad place" so i have second thoughts

To live here, it is. You have no chances of striking it big. The more money you earn, the more taxes you pay. It's a balanced country, that's a plus, but who doesn't have ambitions to make enough money to have a nice retirement? Well, over here it's most unlikely.

The people are colder too, now this isn't a diss, but I suppose I'm used to the island mentality, you walk in to a store on the island and the store people will greet you, it's the first thing they do. Out here, you walk in and they'll just continue talking amongst themselves. Now this is just an example, but you get the jist of it.

Everyone here seems to work on a program. Wake up, breakfast, work, home, rest, tv, dinner, bed. Anything out of that would be considered weird. There is no spontaniety (sp?)...like I on the island what we used to do is just cut un-needed classes like English or Dutch, take a bus or whatever and head to the beach. Here I suggested we go to town during our free period and they looked at me as if I was on weed. (Which I'm not btw.) They'd rather stay and make homework for next week.

Then again, my school was fucked up. Yay, no more of that school.

Oh & my biggest, biggest gripe is the women. A lot of them look like trash, the shit they put in their hair to flatten it and make it look greasy, gah. The rest of the women are muslim so they're covered from head to toe. Yay, what a view.

Bah, another year, that's all & the original class of the Island heads to the Netherlands. Finally some decent meat. Hehe, Jae knows what I'm talking about.

Can't wait till December, first time in 2 years that I'll be heading back.

Oh, as I was saying, for a vacation, it's great (during the summer, you'd be crazy to want to come in the winter), come, watch some soccer, have some weed just enjoy & then make sure you leave. Staying here...:scold:

What island... ? Netherlands Antilles? Are you a native or just lived there? I've met quite a few of French islanders and it's true they're nothing like the stiff Parisian type...

Fri Jul 01, 2005 12:50 am

Yeps, I lived there for around 11 years, that's the place I call home although I wasn't born there. (States, then lived in Suriname for around 5-6 years orso.) Then moved to Curaçao, awesomeness. So yeah, lived there from like 6 to 17 & then moved over here.

Fri Jul 01, 2005 12:54 am

So I am assuming you are of mixed heritage... I was wondering, how do they treat full- or part- natives in the mainland?

Fri Jul 01, 2005 12:57 am

Hmm, I'm not too sure about the mixed heritage bit, my parents are indian (not red indian, the other indian), so we just moved there. Given we lived there so long, we sort of adapted although kept our own habits and so. The people accepted us as one of their own I suppose, given both my sisters (26 & 24) have boyfriends that were born on Curacao. All my girlfriends till date have also been from the Island.

Come to think of it, I don't have a single indian friend a part from a dude who I consider my brother, alas he too is now in the States.

Fri Jul 01, 2005 8:27 am

Just stopping by to say hi, congratulations on reaching the 5k mark. I believe the last time I posted here you had around 3000 or something posts (Ive been away for a while now I know). Good luck to you and everyone else over here.

Edit: Oh, and thanks for the shoutout.

Fri Jul 01, 2005 8:38 am

He still lives. I wasn't sure if I should put you in given I thought you'd move on from the site & every n00b would be like, hmm, who's he?

Anwyays, I'll thank you right now.

Kobe4MVP: The reason I started posting here, without him, I wouldn't have these 5000 posts, I didn't even know what a forum was. Then I saw him post in dutch & I hadn't seen anyone else post in dutch so I made a post. He replied and from then on there was no holding me back. He's a huge Kobe fan and a huger Laker fan. He did run in to some trouble on the forum in trying to support me, but regardless of that, he was a great member (one of the more active ones too). He also made me a kickass Shaq banner, which I still have.

Sorry to revive an old thread, I've been away and didn't see this until now. Thanks for the shoutout man, if I ever did a thread like this you'd be at the top of my list. It's like we're really opposites in posting style and stuff, but we get along really.. it's too bad JCLive didn't work out (yet) but maybe someday we can have a site. Anyway, congrats on 5000.
