Tested doing crunches yesterday it worked great. Feels as much on the stomach as the ordinary situps. Did 225 (75+75+75) (Y)

Just don't excert yourself in the first few days, or you'll cramp your abs. And there are few things more painful or at least more bothersome than strained abs...

Well this is the day after and I hardly feel a thing.

I think I cheated a bit though since I didn't do this properly:
maintain yourself on the peek position for at least a fraction of a second before going back down.

Well, it's better if you only do 50 crunches a day perfectly than 500 cheating... The exercise has only been as good as it feels afterwards.

ok, I will now do 50+50+50 perfectly ones everytime instead :)

If you're cheating, you're not really working on your abs, but partially your abs and your back and whatever else muscle group you're using.

I don't think I'm cheating though cause my abs are really working when doing it.

While we're on the topic.. how many times a week should the abs be worked? I've read elsewhere that they're like any other muscle any shouldn't be done more that twice per week but I'm not too sure about that. And if it is so.. is it better to split the workout into one day for the upper abs and the other for lower abs? Or will plain crunches on both days do?

Depends on the intensity of teh workout. If you work your abs the same way you work, say, you biceps, than you should allow them the chance to recover before doing another ab-concentrated schedule. But it's hard to work one's abs as rigorously as one's arms, so it's not unusual to work the abdominal area almost every day.

Cruches focus more on the upper abs. Try combining cruches with leg lifts for the lower abs, curls for the side abs and some back muscle excercise...
